question regarding cut grade

if a diamond or gemstone is cut too deep or too shallow or anywhere near the shallow or deep categories will it be given a poor cut grade? if its an ideal or excellent cut the cut will reflect that right? meaning its perfect not deep or shallow right? therefore, perfectly porportioned? just wondering. thanks!

cut grades overall are little more than a starting point of varied usefulness.
AGShas what is likely the best system right now but its not perfect.
Id rather have the angle data and aset IS and heart images.
