Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about purchasing my very first coloured gem - a minty green tourmaline asscher cut - in a few months.

Can anyone give me some ideas about prices - what I should be expecting/ more like what I need to save up please?

Also advice on carat size - I'm tossing between 2 to 2.5C. It will be for my left hand - middle finger.
I would like something big enough to see the beautiful details of the asscher cut but not too big for my hands.
My ring size would be around 2.75-3.

In terms of quality - I would like something top notch e.g. good clarity, cut and colour.

Thank you. :)

You’ll probably need to budget around $400 to $500 to be on the safe side. http://www.precisiongem.com/html/html/G ... aline.html shows a nice looking tourmaline although it isn’t an asscher cut so you might want to contact Gene to ask if he has similar material available.

Thank you so much Chrono!

I will check out the link. :)

I have a blue/green tourmaline cut by Gene at Precision Gem, which I love. It's 2.06ct, measures 7.12mm, & was priced just under USD170 per carat. I would also suggest contacting Gene and/or other cutters, such as Peter Torraca, Jeff White (Whites gems), Dan Stair (Custom Gemstones), and ask if they have mint tourmaline rough & could cut an asscher for you. Good luck!

Virgoruby ~ thank you so much!

I love your asscher!

that particular cut seems to be very popular: look for the cost to go up with the demand.

Gene always has nice material! I did not buy much from him, but I am very happy with his stones and cuts.
