Hello,

Can someone tell me how to describe this setting? I am not interested in the diamond design on the band, I am interested in the way the center diamond is set into this band, and the way the band comes up on the sides of this diamond. Is there a name for this type of setting?

I appreciate any information.

Thanks!

I don't know if this is what youre looking for, but the piece of metal wrapping around the circumference of the diamond is called a basket.

Hope this helps,
Colleen

those are the 'shoulders' of the ring. i think some may call it 'cathedral' style where the shoulders curve up and meet the stone

the head is a 'low basket' and the style of the head would be 'claw-prong set' where the prongs are small, thin, delicate claws. typical leon mege.

maybe i am missing something but couldn't you just print the picture and show it to whoever you are describing it to?

The ring sides seem to be cathedral style, as the come up to the center stone.

Thanks everyone! It really helps to know the correct terms. Now I have a better idea of what I am responding to about this ring... and hopefully I will have an easier time finding more like it.

Thanks again.

Robyn

I have seen this type of shoulder sweeping up to the stone with the open triangle in them referred to sometimes as cartier setting. I don't know if they originally designed this style or not.
