Question on James Allen solitaire setting

I am considering this James Allen setting with a round diamond:

This is probably a newbie question, and I''m not quite sure how to phrase it, but is the setting and the length of the prongs customized to the size of the diamond? I.e., will I see a gap between the bottom of the diamond and the setting? Or will the bottom of the diamond sit (roughly) flush with the bottom of the setting?

Does this vary from jeweler to jeweler?

The setting should be sized according to the diamond, in certain size jump, like 0.75c, 1.0c setting.

You should be able to give instruction for the setting for how low you want the diamond to be.

The prongs have some extra length to them in the empty setting usually, once the diamond is in position they are secured, trimmed and finished to fit the diamond. You can on request have the diamond set a bit higher or lower according to your preference, just specify this as you finalize the order.
