Question on halo setting and prongs

I'm looking to have my 2.5 ct RHR set in a halo setting. Is there any benefit in having 6 prongs vs the standard 4?

I didn't know how to edit my first post......so here are my other questions. The halo setting I'm looking to get is similar to the Gabriel ER6303W83JJ. The setting comes with 4 prongs and I don't even know if you can order with 6. Obviously, I don't want to bother asking for 6 prongs if there is no benefit to durability. Also, can anyone provide feedback on the quality of the Gabriel settings? I was told their melee is Vs quality. Is this accurate? My stone is an M color. I love my stone but will it look OK in a white halo? I do know it will highlight the color of the stone more. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

The only question you have that I can comment on is the prongs. With 4 prongs if one of them breaks/ bends etc the likelyhood of loosing your diamond is much greater then if you have 6 prongs, which will/ should still hold the diamond in place. With that said I'm personally not a fan of a halo setting with 6 prongs.

I don't have a Gabriel ring but I want to say that I think they are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!! I personally think there is no harm in asking and to me that should be an easy change to the setting so I would think they could do it for you if you wanted it.

Halo settings almost always have 4 prongs. I wouldn't like 6 at all in that type of setting.
