So I almost have the rock figured out... but now the latest mess involves which style of e-ring. I could use some opinions on the following two rings as well as comments on my open questions on each.

#1) Tacori HT2229A
http://www.tacori.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Product_Code=HT2229A&Category_Code=ENGAGEMENT&Store_Code=TACORI&Search=A&offset=40&filter_cat=4&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=%20&srch_srcha=1

Now a local B&M store has an e-ring almost identical to this Tacori. The one thing odd is that the store recommends going with 14K WG vs 18K WG and over PLT. If money is not the driving force for me why would I consider 14K? Per the store the 14K is better for the Tacori design.

#2) WF "Diamond for an Eternity"
http://whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/-Diamonds-for-an-Eternity-_998.htm

This classic eternity ring looks nice although I cannot see enough angles of the ring on WF'' site. My girlfriend does not want to wear a wedding band and to me this ring may look naked as a stand alone (width is 2.5 mm). The rock will be approx 1.5 ct.

I am also concerned about the durability of an eternity ring with stones going all the way around... although I think both choices run the risk of stones being knocked out over time.

Both settings are gorgeous. I love the WF Diamond for an Eternity setting but if your gf wants to wear an ering alone, I''d go for the Tacori setting. I love the side view and the details on that setting are amazing. I''m not sure about WG vs platinum for the Tacori setting.

I''d go for the real Tacori. (And I''d go for 18k white gold if you went with the copy.) But she will forever look engaged with either of those settings. Has she considered a diamond wedding band instead? That really works better for someone who wants to wear one ring. Or a split shank ring also is lovely worn alone.

What can I say? She does not want a wedding band although she may come to change her mind down the road. =)

I figure the safe thing may be to do a nice high end eternity band with a nice stone and then later if she wants a wedding band I can always get a wedding band eternity ring. Any thoughts?

That''s exactly what I did, got the eternity engagement ring, thinking I did not want a wedding band. Six months later I got an eternity wedding band to match. Now I wear both rings separately and together, but mostly together. It''s funny how that worked out!
