Mara,
I noticed below someone posted your preferred specs...
I''m curious about the table - you said that you like 55-56, but might do a 54 or 57...
How does the table affect the appearance... like, what would a table of 57 do to the appearance vs. a table of 56?

Thanks!
kristy

it depends on the other specs of the stone, but for me 55-56 is just my ''mind clean'' area. if there was a 57 with stellar specs and no 55-56 for me to consider, i''d consider the 57. but if there is a 55-56 with stellar specs, just mentally i like to have something in that range. it''s leftover from when i had a big tabled 61% stone for a while and i just like smaller but not too small now.

Thanks... I just wondered, because mine is a 57. :)

I''m not at the point yet where I can necessarily distinguish the difference between the bigger vs. smaller tables.... Although, I suppose since I''ve spent a total of approximately 30 hours staring at my new diamond over the last 5 days, I''m sure I''ll be there soon. haha. :)

I asked Rich Sherwood this very question a few days ago. I saw a stone that had excellent specs, an AGS 0 rating, and all the numbers I otherwise look for...except that the table was 57%. A 57% table is still within the range for AGS 0 stones, but I was worried because both my previous stones had 56% tables and I wondered at what point table size would begin to impact fire. Rich said that it is the crown angle and the relationship of crown to pavilion angle that predominantly determines the quantity of fire, and that a 1% difference in table size is unlikely to make any difference in fire discernible to the human eye. And, as it turns out, that turned out to be true in the case of the stone mentioned above. I found that to be very helpful and thought you might as well.

ETA I just saw that your stone is a WF ACA -- I'm quite sure you have nothing to worry about when it comes to table size. There are plenty of ACAs with 57% tables and I'm sure they're all just beautiful.
