I''m not Mara, but I upgraded from a 1.53 G to a 2.36 J and while I''m sure others who are more color sensitive than me may feel differently - I have never been sorry! I LOVE the J color -- white from the top, some warmth (but no "yellow" from the sides) and a gorgeous and beautiful stone.
Thanks Lynn! I don''t really see any color in your stones but I don''t know how sensitive I am to color. I own an I and a J and don''t really detect any color between them but I have an F and I can see the color difference between that an the others, but the cut isn''t all the same. When I look at some photos like the one I attached, the color looks pretty evident.
So you didn''t notice any color in your stones under the different lighting conditions you had them in? i''m talking about face-up appearance...on the side, I do notice some warmth.
Hi, I don''t have a J stone or anything, but I have seen Mara''s and a few other J''s in person. And those stones look amazing white, white, white. I''m super color sensitive, and these were the first ideal J''s that I''ve ever seen, and they looked beautiful. But if you compare them side by side with D-F color stones, of course you''d notice a difference, but how often do you do that in real life?
I went from a 3 carat E VVS1 to a substantially larger G VS1, and I think my stone is gorgeous. If I put it next to a D or E might I notice a difference? Maybe, but I have other diamond jewelry and it never looks bad next to them...
Thank for the input. I guess there won''t be a DEF stone next to mine so I guess their won''t be a color difference...The photos just show such a dramatic change and I was a little concerned.
I remember someone who bought a solasfera and wanted it over a traditional H&A because of the smaller facets of her large stone. so i was just wondering if color is brought out more in larger stones since the facets are larger??? I don''t know if this makes sense. i''m no where close to being a diamond expert.
Nope. I''ve actually been lucky enough to have seen a 2 carat J Solasfera in person, along with 2 and 3 carat J H&A''s in person. They all look really white, although if I have to choose, the Solasfera showed more color. So I guess that means the smaller facets made the color more noticeable? Others may disagree with me, that''s just my perception and humble opinion.
It may also be because the owner of the Solasfera doesn''t clean her stone, so that probably affects the color too.
Hi Arnel, I just wanted to point out that in color difference is very hard to tell in pictures and that yes, like you said, when will you ever have a D,E, or F stone next to your I, J, or K stone? probably never. Here''s some more pics of the two stones you posted to give you a better idea of what you''re seeing.
This shows the same stones but a little farther apart. Can''t tell as much of a difference.
And a lot of what you see in diamonds is fromo the light and reflected light surrounding you. Here are the diamonds in a slightly different light. They look very similar in terms of color now.
I wish I was able to see a solasfera in person. I''m trying to convince one of my friends to go for it. It''s still early in the engagement ring shopping journey.
Thanks sunkist for more pics. you''re a great photographer! I dont'' notice the yellow that much on the second pic.
hmmm i wonder where mara is.
I''m going ring shopping with another friend (HoF this weekend) and hopefully they can show us some different color stones.
Thanks everyone
