Hey Julie, I was doing a search on differences in yg and came across a post in which you had commented that you have 14 and 18 and that there is a difference in color. Could you post something to show the difference. Another issue that I''m having with trying to find a setting to go with the band that I have now is that my band is 14k and the settings I like are 18k. I did see a hand shot of one of the 18k settings and the gold did look different, can''t really think of how describe it but I want to say darker, maybe even an orange tint ? That could very well have been the lighting as well. Thanks !!

Mm, I don''t have a picture right now.

The colors are different, but that is to be expected. I also have a 24 kt bracelet, and, of course, the color is different.

Color is so personal, though. I think 14K, 18K, 24K, they all kind of look different when they are scratched or polished. I can tell my 14K pieces from 18K, because they have a different visual..."feeling," not just because of the color.

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. I don't have anything against 18k at all, I just want the color to match and I'm thinking that I would definately notice the difference and be bothered by it. I should probably try to compate mine to 18k in person, maybe go to a local jeweler. Of course as you stated with scratches and wear mine not necessarily look like a new 14 k piece would either.

Hello LBug!

I wear yellow gold and you are absolutely right about the colour difference between 14ct & 18ct gold.

It''s night time here in New Zealand, so I can''t take a decent photo to show you until the morning.

The difference between 14 & 18ct gold isn''t as great as between 9ct & 18ct gold, as you might expect.

18ct gold is more yellow and a richer colour.

I would go into a store and try on some settings next to your ring, to see how different the colours are, and whether you would notice (or mind) the slight difference. You might find it turns out to be a close enough match not to bother you.

Alternatively, you could always get a setting custom made to match. :)
