Does anyone here have a metalic finsh Coach? I just purchased my first Coach bag (the Maggie) and I ended up getting it in gunmetal instead of basic black as I wanted a bag that can go from day to night and I also liked how it didn't have the Coach logo on the front (it has the tags instead). Love the bag but when I got home I noticed quite a lot of people online have had problems with the metallic coach finishes cracking or peeling. The SA told me the coating should hold up better than plain leather and the bags last for years, so just wanted to see if anyone here has had an experience with it. I love love the bag but I want it to look great in a year at this price.

I don't own any metallic bags, but I have heard of that becoming a problem. I'm not sure how you could stop this from happening, I wonder if you could treat the leather so that it's less likely to dry out? But I'm not sure if that would damage the metallic finish(plus you wouldn't want to use the coach leather stuff.)
Sorry I can't be of more use, I hope that doesn't happen to your purse!

hi, i own the sabrina in a pewter/gunmetal color and have had it for probably a year now. i haven't noticed any problems that you mentioned (*fingers crossed*), but i don't use it daily. did the sales associate say what could be done if your bag develops a problem? mine did mention that i could get the hardware replaced in the event the paint starts start to flake/peel. i would think keeping the bag out of direct sunlight as much as possible might help. and perhaps, as mentioned above, a leather conditioner if it's advised by coach?

Thanks for the advice! The SA told me if I notice anything within a month to bring it back. I told her I would expect an exchange at least for a lot longer than that and she said of course, so hopefully they will honor that if I do notice anything. I dont plan on conditioning the bag at all, as it doesnt feel like leather really (because of the finish) but keeping it out of the sun is a good idea. I just noticed there is a whole thread for Coach in the shopping section!

something else to consider: many credit cards offer an extended warranty program -- sometimes extending a warranty by a year or doubling it -- so if you purchased your bag on a credit card offering such a program, you might be able to protect yourself from something going awry with it beyond your exchange/return window.
