I''ve been searching through past threads and although "size differences" with bezels has been addressed, I haven''t been able to find *quite* the right info.

For those of you who changed your setting from more of a solitaire style to a bezel, can you approximate about how much bigger (or smaller!) your stone looks in the bezel?
I''ve seen a few side-by-side comparisons and it always seems to me that the stone looks bigger in the bezels, but its always difficult to judge -- by how much-- with enlarged pictures. So for those of you who wear these bezels everyday, (if you can) can you approximate the difference in perceived size? (ct or mm on average)

Or, if anyone knows of a thread that addresses this, can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!!!!

It looks bigger for sure. How much is all in the eye of the beholder IMO. A crude measurement would be to add the width of the bezel to the size of the stone. I think that''s the illusion it gives from far away. Close up though you can clearly see the definition of metal to stone.

So, when you glance at your ring (not scrutinize) does your eye perceive the full dimension of the bezel, and average of stone size to total dimension, or does it clearly pick out the outline of the diamond. --- Does that make sense?? (prob. not

When I glance at my ring, I see the size as the entire bezel setting. My eye doesn''t stop at where the metal starts. I hope I''m making sense here.

Thanks Chrono,
I do know what you mean--- I know, this whole idea is a little abstract, but that info helps!

Like I said, from far away it blends in. But from up close I can clearly see what is what and notice the outline of the diamond very well. If you want blending a halo with diamonds is probably a better choice to "increase" size.

p.s. Neatfreak and Chrono, I LOOOVE your bezels... you have both contributed to my new obsession with bezels
(Chrono, did you have yours done at Quest? or am I confusing myself?

Thanks Paeony! They are a pretty great look if I do say so myself.

Thanks Neatfreak,
thats good info!
about halos-- unfortunately, I''m not a big fan (for me!). I like the cleaner, simpler line of the bezel (and I''m a little more conservative/active.. .don''t think I could pull off a halo!)
Thanks again--- and I love the E-W setting... one stone I''m considering is rectangular, if I pick it, its def. going in that direction!

Yes, mine is hand made by Quest. Nope, no confusion there at all.

Awesome! Pete is going to make my bezel--- just waiting on the stone!

I have a pendant and an rhr that in bezels and I''ve seen both the stones first. I think they look substantially larger in a bezel, maybe 30% larger even with a thin bezel! One of the stones is small (.43 carats) and the other is larger (over 2 carat garnet).

Wow, 30%? ... sounds promising!
Thanks kcoursolle!!

It''s really a pretty substantial difference in my opinion!
