question about wedding bands

I am wondering about how to know if the band will fit right up against the ering or not when looking at settings. Lots of pics don''t show it with a band.

I really want the two to fit together, but also want the band to be regular shape and not require any "dent" to accommodate the ering. What are the key aspects of the ering setting I should keep in mind? what''s the proper terminology to describe this?

The best way would be to call and ask if the setting would allow a wedding band to sit flush. But if it is a designer setting, it would be best to look at one in person and try on rings with it before ordering.
