Hi I live in Japan currently and I was told that Tiffany''s prices here are inflated compared to the ones in the US. I went to a store today and picked out this ring, do you think it is more than it would be in the US?

0.9 Carat
F
VVS2
SOR1 (not sure if this means anything)
Price is USD 16,345

Thanks!

Hi,

From what I understand that the Japan culture lends towards IF to VVS quality stones and high color.

Unless you are just sold on buying a Tiffany, do a diamond search on PS and find much larger diamonds that will equal or totally surpass in size and quality than what you are purchasing at Tiffany''s.

A few examples that stay in your color range, because VVS to IF clarity cannot be seen with the naked eye, but color can, if you are color sensitive: These stones are larger as well, plus all these companies have a lifetime upgrade policy.

Honestly? I actually don''t know if it''s too much more expensive in Japan. Usually you can get about a 1ct from Tiffany''s (depending on the setting of course) for around $12,000. But that is NOT going to be a VVS2 F as far as I understand. There is a very big premium for VVS and high color, so that might not be too far off.

I would just email the NY store, tell them what you''re "looking" for, and ask them a ballpark price quote. They''re usually happy to oblige.

Oh really? they give quotes? that would really hep with comparing the prices. Thanks!!

They definitely give quotes-Ive been emailing the NY store and they have been very helpful in providing different prices

Depends on the item.

We bought my engagement and our wedding bands here in Japan. My wedding band was about $US400 more expensive here than it is on Tiffany.com, husband''s however was about the same.
