I have noticed some of WF's ACA diamonds look pinkish in the Idealscope image. Others look much darker red, the way you'd expect. Please see the two pics below to see what I am referring to. Both have top notch cuts of course, as they are ACA diamonds. Does this mean that the stone with the darker idealscope image is a slightly better performer? Or is it just bad photography with the pinker idealscope images?

Darker red idealscope:

Pinker idealscope:
When compared to the one above, do you see how it's not as deep of a hue?

Its just the photography Laila/ lighting, nothing to worry about.

Hi Lorelei,
I dunno...I would think WF presumably uses the same lighting to take pics of the stone images.

I might be picky, but I certainly would bypass the pinker looking stones. We are taught to look for deep reds in IS, the redder the better. Just wondered if anyone else had noticed this.

Hi Laila!

This does come up a bit, some do vary in redness but from what I have always been told its not an issue but down to the lighting/ positioning of the diamond/ skill of the photographer etc. More important is the overall image, not the brightness or depth of colour but the visibility of leakage, if Alj is around she might be able to clarify - I think I have seen her today. Also remember the importance of hearts images with ACA when evaluating.

Probably color balance or the light is still warming up.

Laila, Lorelei is correct; the lighting is a bit brighter in the second image, but it isn''t a cause for worry. The IS results for both of these stones are comparable.

A darker IS image isn''t necessarily more indicative of performance than a lighter one; that usually a function of variance in the intensity of the lighting.

The thing to look for in an IS image is areas of white that aren''t consistent with regular contrast. Pink isn''t problematic, but white areas of leakage (that aren''t part of typical contrast pattern) may be.

Thank you
