Question about the Olympics

I don't know much about them...

Was interested in watching the gymnastics portion - artistic and rhythm. But when I look through the schedule I don't see those sports listed. Then I remembered something about Winter Games. :/ Does that mean that the gymnastics won't happen for this year? Or did I already miss them?

CJ--those are summer Olympic events. Next: Japan 2020.

Oh. So I guess each one says whether it's Summer Or Winter? They switch every two years?

"Until 1992 the Winter and Summer Olympic Games were held in the same years, but in accordance with a 1986 decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to place the Summer and Winter Games on separate four-year cycles in alternating even-numbered years, the next Winter Olympics after 1992 was in 1994." (I copied this from the interweb lol)

IMHO, makes sense to alternate....more sponsorship. People are not "beleaguered" by so much Olympics same year, KWIM?

We watched ice skating today (we had recorded it). My favorite was the girl who came in 3rd, from Canada.

That's so funny. In my mind, I think of summer and Winter Olympics being in the same year. But it hasn't been like that in ages! I can understand why they want to spread it out. But to me I liked the tradition of having it in the same year.
