Would this Whiteflash band and setting scratch each other because of the diamond girdles from the band rubbing against the e-ring? Is this the kind of style to avoid, because of damage/scratching? Or would this style of setting be safe?

It's Whiteflash's petite open cathedral. Is this what's called a shared prong? I also have the same question about the James Allen common prong setting...

I know there is a type of setting where the diamonds scratch and rub against the metal, and many PSers have had problems with it, and it's to be avoided. So I wanted to make sure these were ok.

Please see pics below! Thank you in advance!

Ok my bad...one other question. Are these settings pretty secure--could I use an ultrasonic without worrying about losing a melee?

Laila, without being able to see them in person, I can''t tell if there would be a problem or not. I would call WF and ask them, they would know best. I''m thinking not, but I just can''t say for sure from a pic.

As for using a US with melee, there are differing opinions. Some say if the ring is really well made, and the melee are set well, you can without too much worry. Others say you shouldn''t period. I don''t know what to tell you on that either.

I wasn''t much help, was I?!

Thanks Ellen!

I was reading about all the problems with shared prong, and it seems like it would rub. But maybe someone else would know. or someone who owns one of these could chime in. I could call WF I suppose, but that would be too logical, lol.

From the pics, it doesn''t look like there''s any overhang, but always best to double check.
