Hey guys,

Well, I have decided to get the lady-friend a diamond ring (she''s been pretty good lately, lol). I have been searching all over the internet (this site, blue nile, abazias, etc.) and I can''t seem to find what "metrics" are good for the ring I''m looking for.

More specifically, I know she wants a round diamond. I''ll probably get her a 1 - 1.5 carat (just depends on what I can find at what cost), but I''m really looking for help as far as what "metrics" I should look for.

Stuff like:

Depth

Table

Symmetry

Polish

Girdle

Cutlet

Fluorescence

Measurements

Cut Grade

I seem to get conflicting information on different sites on what''s acceptable/not acceptable, etc. Any help on what I should be looking out for on the above metrics, would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Hi callech,

Maybe this will help.

60-62

54-57

Ex or VG

Ex or VG

Thin, Thin to Med., Med, Med. to Slightly Thick, Slightly Thick

None or Pointed

Fluorescence, any, if it doesn''t affect the stone negatively (rare). Will usually discount the stone if strong or very strong.

Ex/Ideal or VG

Crown angle 34-35

Pavillion angle 40.6-41

I would suggest working with a vendor who has Idealscope/Aset pics, sarin report, etc. It helps.
