I have a question about this Conversion Chart. What % depth is the chart assuming the stone has?

On a related note, I am looking at a 1.65 round that has 61.9% depth and is 7.55x7.58x4.68. I crunched some numbers using a chart ratio, and it looks like the stone will appear to be 1.59 carats. Does this sound about right to you? Would this loss of carat size concern you?

thanks!

Obviously there is a range of acceptable diameters seeing that there is no single perfect depth percentage. My 1.63 is 7.6mm, which is right at the number listed on the chart. I seriously doubt you could see the size difference in my stone and the one you''re looking at. So my answer is no, that tiny loss of diameter would not bother me. I am looking at stones with a depth of 62% for earrings, as a matter of fact, so they will also not have the largest possible diameter either. I''m sure others would chime in and say that the other angles are very important in determining whether the stone is a good one, not just depth and diameter.
