Hi,

I have read a lot about Mark Morell''s work and have seen the stunning pictures posted on his sites.

For those who have MM settings, can you tell me typically, how long does it take for MM finish a setting (flame or sunburst)?

Is it comfortable? (sorry if this sounds silly).

Do you know if there is any way that I can see a sample of his work in real life? I am in San Francisco/Bay Area.

Thanks.

Is it comfortable? (sorry if this sounds silly).

I just got my sunburst setting about 10 days ago. It took around 5 weeks to have it on my finger - nearly to the day from the time I confirmed with Mark that I indeed wanted the ring.

Your question is not silly at all - Honest to gosh, this ring is THE most comfortable ring I have ever owned. I am the type of person that takes her rings off as soon as I walk in the door in the house, and my MM is so comfy, I often forget I even have it on! It''s worth EVERY PENNY.

Most designers seem to quote 6-8 weeks and then deliver early. I think 4-6 actual time is pretty standard.

Mark Morell''s settings are beautiful! Please post pics when you get it!

I know that GOG can set the Flame setting in house. Not sure if it''d be faster.

If cleaning is required, do you think local jewelry shop will be capable or still need to send back to MM?

My Mark Morrel setting took a ridiculous amount of time about 9 months I think. His office was flooded twice and although mine was a sunburst it was a special sunburst for a marquise. It is the prettiest thing I ever saw but it is a very high ring.

It lifts very high off the finger and I think could easily get banged up.

It is comfortable just so high I fear of wacking it. Mark does not want you to send rings back to him for checkups and cleaning. He prefers you use your local talent.

Fly down to LA and I will show you mine hahaha.

Gemoholic,

Thanks for the info. Thanks for pointing out that it is a high off the finger. I was wondering that initially but no one else seem to mention that.

Wow, 9 months is a long time. But I suppose there was some unexpected issues.

I wonder if the flame is just as high.

Do you happen have a picture of your ring? :)

If I go to LA, I''ll give you a message first :P

Thanks.

Some "but not all" of that is my fault. I allowed him to take his time as he did not want to work with a Marquise and I talked him into it. I tell you girl his work is so lovely. It just breaths quality. Simple yet elegant and stylish to boot. I think you could talk to him to make it a bit lower. I looked at mine and I see it couldv'e been done.
No pic yet I don't know how to photograph it. I think it would be blurry. :)

I do not think round stones in the flame or sunburst are set high at all. I think that must have had to do with the custom setting for the marquise.
