I'm in the process of looking at OEC's (even though I proclaimed in another thread I was going to stop looking for now - that didn't last too long  ). I currently wear a stone that measures 6.65 x 6.69 and my ring size is 4.25. I bought an 8 mm cz to see how it compares to my diamond, and I feel there's a noticeable difference. Unfortunately, as I've been looking, an 8 mm OEC seems to be out of my price range. The stones I'm seeing that fit into my budget measure around 7.3 and I've found a few 7.5 and one that measures 7.6. Do you think there will be a decent size difference between my stone and say a 7.5 stone? And is there that much difference between 8 mm and 7.5 mm? I would like more finger coverage than I have now, but if there isn't going to be that big of a difference it just might not be worth it. Thanks in advance for your patience, I'm new to all of this!

Hi Junebug. Take a piece of paper and cut out three circles. One at 6.7 for your current stone. Then one at 7.5 and another at 8. See what you think of the size differences when you put each on your hand. Then see how that translates against the two stones you do have, the 6.7 and the 8mm.

I think it will be noticeable.

Yes, absolutely! You must have around a 1.15 now and a 7.5-7.6mm stone is around 1.55-1.6 in a well cut rb. That is a nice upgrade in size! I think that 7.3 would be fine, too, but if you want to try to get a forever stone, then try for 7.4 or above for the most impact. I have pictures of different stone sizes on my other computer if you want me to post some later.

Thanks Gypsy and diamondseeker! I'll do the cut-outs, that's a good idea. And I'd like to see pics if you get a chance DS, thanks - and since this is pretty much going to be it for me in terms of diamond purchases (for basically the rest of my life), sounds like I should focus on 7.4 and up to make it worth it.

This is a helpful one because your current stone would be between the size of the first and second diamonds and the third diamond would be 7.4mm approx. (and your finger is a LOT smaller than her middle finger!):

This is an awful picture, but you can see the difference between 6.5mm and 7.6mm on a 5.5 size finger

Oh wow, I'll say - more than I thought there would be - thank you very much for taking the time to post these DS, they've been very helpful!

You are very welcome! I have spent countless hours trying to figure out the perfect size for me :loopy: , so I am glad to be able to share some of the info!
