Question about craigslist, need some advice

I''m selling a ring on craigslist and I received a call from someone who''s interested. They obviously want to see the stone in person. I was wondering where you guys thought would be a good idea to meet him that would be safe. Obviously for all I know this person could be a criminal. I was thinking a jewelry store, maybe tiffanys, but they may not allow it. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and could help me out.

When I was looking at diamonds a while back, I talked with a "diamond broker" who met her clients at banks, you could maybe meet them at a bank, or other jewelry stores if they are looking for a jeweler to appraiser onsite before they commit. Its so sketchy with Craigslist sometimes, good luck

Selling a ring on CL would be no different than selling anything else.

Id meet the person at a mall or some other crowded place.

Banks often have facilities where you can meet securely, especially if you have a strong relationship with the bank. Assuming that you aren’t an expert in diamond grading yourself, you might want to hire an independent appraiser to inspect the piece and give you an opinion and this would make the appraisers office a possibility. I do this quite a bit where a buyer and seller come in at the same time and are both present for the inspection and where I’m working for the buyer. I work in a secured building with cameras all over the place and guards on every door and some IA’s may not agree to do this because of their facilities but if you’ve got one in your area it works quite well.

Ditto what Neil said. Security is key. Your comfort level should be of utmost importance.
A secure appraiser''s office is a good example.
