Question about authenticity of Legacy ring

Did Tiff ever make a Legacy without the diamonds going up the prongs? I found this one Ebay and I think it''s a fake. The total ct weight doesn''t add up for the small diamonds, but then I noticed there were no prong diamonds. Is it an authentic, just older version of the Legacy, if anyone knows? Price is good.

During my search for my ering (about a year ago) I was told by the Tiffany''s SA that only Legacies with >1ct center stones had the diamonds on the prongs.

Really? I did not know that. It LOOKS like a real Legacy the way the stone is cut, but that is to my untrained eye.

I could be wrong but there are two versions of the tiffany legacy the ornate one and the plainer one one has the diamonds going up the prongs on the side and the other doesn't.

I tried on an aqua legacy that was not the ornate one, I don't know if this applies to diamond legacies though?

Yeah, the plainer one comes in different gemstones, but the diamond can come both ways. But I am trying to figure out if the one for sale on ebay could be authentic considering the diamonds up the prongs are missing. but then the explanation that they might omit those diamonds for smaller ct weight diamonds could be true. I guess the only way to know for sure is to call a Tiffany & Co. and ask. Thanks!

Went to Tiffany today to look at thin diamond wedding bands.--Just prospectively shopping for when I re-set my diamond (the true stats of which I am still waiting for Storm to tell me...LOL)... Turns out that the lower ct weight Legacies are indeed sans-diamonds up the prongs. And I looked at one for sale in the relatively same carat weight as the ebay ring. They look identical so I suppose that the one on ebay is genuine. I believe it is anyway. BUT, there is one slight, itsy, bitsy, teensy, weensy hiccup: The one on ebay is more expensive and it is lower carat weight. Seriously. The Buy it Now price is about $100 less than the Tiffany retail price, but for a stone that is about 15 points smaller in carat weight. So, I guess the key is to be careful when buy on Ebay.

My Tiffany sales rep sent me a note today on notepaper with those colored Legacies on it today! They are so beautiful!

Isabelle, I just love my 2mm Legacy wedding band. You may not want that style, but I am so glad I got it!

Isabelle, I just love my 2mm Legacy wedding band. You may not want that style, but I am so glad I got it!

I really like the Legacy wedding band, and I am sure it looks great on your hand. I like the one that is stamped platinum. That one looks really vintage. Of course, the one with diamonds is awesome too. I also like the Novo band next to the Legacy ring. It isn''t "matchy" but still looks great.

The ring looks authentic to me. It''s very very hard to fake a legacy IMO. Assuming that you actually do get THAT ring being photographed, it''s real IMO.

Gosh I love the Legacy diamond band as a wedding band. It''s really beautiful. I think it''s my favorite besides just a plain yellow gold band as far as wedding bands go..

Someone bought the one I linked to? It wasn''t me. I got my Legacy in February.-- But it is a gemstone Legacy. I am on another note looking for a couple of thin, antique wedding bands to pair with it for times I wear it on the left hand. I did take a look at the ring I linked to as I was looking at what Ebay had. But simply, I wondered if the one pictured was real as it lacked diamonds going up the shank. But I hope no one bought it b/c honestly, the ring on Ebay was priced the same as Retail! Like I mentioned above, I saw one in the store yesterday that was only $100 more for 15 extra points in carat weight.

Out of curiousity/general info., did you happen to ask the SA what carat weight they do start putting the diamonds up the prongs? I thought the ebay one was a fake.

$5900 is a good deal assuming the ring is like new. I didn''t ask, but it would seem to me that if you hit the 1 ct mark, you are going to get the diamonds up the prongs.
