I've turned my attention to oval diamonds and after reading that ags issues a cut grade for ovals, I have my heart set on finding an ideal cut. I found an ags graded oval that is graded ideal for polish and symmetry but does not have a cut grade on the dqr. Once a dqr report has been issued, can the same diamond be submitted for a dqd? This is what a ps vendor told me and I'm hoping that the experts here can chime in and explain why it can't be re-graded in a dqd report. thanks.

Yes, a DQR can be upgraded to a DQD. If the inspection was relatively recent they may not even need to see the stone again. I can look into it and order you an upgraded report if you need or your vendor may be able to do it. I think it costs about $80 if they don't need a new inspection.

Thanks Neil. I just got off the phone with an ags customer service representative and she told me the same thing. In fact, the dqr was issued in march of this year so as you mentioned, the stone does not need to be sent back in. I will contact you about ordering an upgraded report... gotta love ps!
