if the Diamond is around 1.25 carat, would "Medium" thickness be okay? I read on tutorial that thin gridles are supposed to be good, but if it''s too thin then it''ll be easily damaged. Is this correct? Thanks for all the help

Yes and no. I mean, you can chip any girdle if you''re hard on your rings. Mine has a very thin girdle because it''s an old stone and that''s not uncommon in older cuts, however, I dont wear it for sports, gardening or things of that nature. I probably wouldn''t wear any ering for those things. And I dont bash my hands around...All that is to say, if you love a stone and it has a thin girdle you just have to be aware...and insure the thing!

Medium thickness is fine.

Medium should be fine via my research and according to all of the labs I have read about. also, you might want to read this thread Some Tiffany cut discussion

How valuable it is to you I couldn't say, but if you missed it there was some discussion that addressed the issue as to why some Tif diamonds were not scoring at the top HCA scores. My thoughts were..is HCA in error? but that may not be the case. worth reading anyway, except for my posts of course. those are basically useless.

Thank you guys very much! Workinghard, I replied your email about Tiffany Japan''s pricing in my previous thread, hope you saw that.

An even medium girdle thickness is excellent. Yes, if you are very hard on your rings, then the diamond can still chip, no matter the girdle thickness but if worn with care, you have nothing to worry about with a medium girdle.

Yep no worries and WH4 you crack me up!

Medium is great! Thin to med, med, med-slightly thick, thin to slightly thick are all fine. I worry about ext thin for durability reasons and ext thick for lack of spread reasons.

Medium''s fantastic.

It''s practically an ideal thickness, as a matter of fact. The only time I''d really worry about a girdle is "Very/Extremely Thin" and then only in cases where the diamond has sharp points. You''re good to go!

Thanks for your inputs everyone, I feel more comfortable with the diamond now!
