quality of diamond side stones?

If picking diamond step cut traps for ring side stones... somewhere around 1 to 1.6 tct....do you need better than SI1 clarity? I have been looking at stones that range from VS1 to SI1 and I just don't think I need to pay for VS1 clarity?

Or is clarity more important when you are talking about a step cut trap?

But if you had a VS1+ center I''d still go with VS sides, more for matching even though you won''t see any difference as Garry says.

I agree SI is good. Your tanzanite next to the traps will be yummy!
