quality and purchase price of a diamond

Hello everyone, I''m new to this forum. I dont really know much about diamonds other then the very basics. I''m hoping you might be able to help me. I have a ring that was purchased from mall jewelery store several years ago for $4550. This store allows you to trade in your ring towards a better ring so long as you at least double the price. So, they will give me a trade in credit of $4550 on a $9100 leaving my balance as $4550. I just want a plain old solitare diamond ring. What kind of quality of diamond should I expect to get for $9100? I feel like they might try to overprice whatever diamond they sell me, so I''d like to know what I SHOULD expect to get for that price. Thank you for your help

Much of it depends on your preferences for colour and clarity and so on, also it is important to find a well cut diamond to bring out the beauty. Do you have any diamonds in mind as a replacement?
