After trudging home from Woodstock in 68, caked in mud and hippie gear- the 70''s turned into hanging out at Max''s Kansas City, glitter rock, they called it then, - platform heels, I had a pair with gold fish in them - and the home town NY band - New York Dolls. They used to play at Max''s and a lot and other downtown haunts- there was a huge following that grew- the clothes were anything from London, high heels, lots of makeup... very glitter and glam. No leisure suits in this crowd.
We very well might have met...I used to date a guy involved in that scene!!, lived in NYC and frequented Max''s often!![]()
Amber St Clare.
What happens in Max''s, stays in Max''s.
I was a real young''un back then, art student by day, studying "painting", oh so serious, too much of a baby to attract real attention at Max''s, but --- glittering Dolls fan by night. Max''s had it all, the artists, poets, rock n''roll, great place to dance the night away. Still listen to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground!
