A rice cooker is a great appliance. I'm trying not to buy any small electronic appliances (environmental reasons and clutter reduction), but since my good korean friend gifted me one, it's been in heavy use! I saw one at Costco for 20€today
I like short grain Japanese brown rice (genmai) and usually buy Tamanishiki brand on Amazon. It has a different taste from long grain brown rice. My kids think it's white rice and don't complain as much.
@kipari and @lyra im learning quite a bit today ....i hoped this thread was going to be a sauce of knowledge
i must find an Asian supermarket and look for some of the brands on this thread @baby monster my OH does not like brown rice at all so rice based meals in this house usually do not end well
Generic white or brown rice in 20lb bags.
Tip always freeze your rice for 48 hours to kill all the bugs, then keep it in the dark to make it last for a very long time.
I find how it is cooked is way more important than brand.
A lot of people/places way overcook it.
I don't like rice at all. Makes me nauseous, my mother made my sister and I eat a HUGE big pan of rice because my sister LOVED rice, I rarely eat it today.
