heraanderson:
I tried on the Ritani like yours today... I LOVE it! They popped out the cz and placed and Asscher and a Cushette in it... GORGEOUS! I know many do not like Asschers with rounds... but OMG the Asscher looked awesome with that band (like I knew it would!)! The e-ring (they didn''t have the w-band there) was .67 tcw (I think) and there were 16 diamonds making them about .04 each. Does your band have .04c diamonds?
everyone:
I tried the Ritani on at Robbins Bros
and it was a few hundred less than I have seen online, so even paying tax would be less there (am I understanding correctly that buying a ring online out-of-state I would not have tax?).
My obsession is that I want diamonds on the head; otherwise I could have had my ring today
. I know it''s not a huge element to the design, but when I looked at the ring on my finger it just seemed to be missing that. There was another ring there with diamonds on the basket (3 on each side) that looked kinda bezel set (keeping in style with the band I like). Now, RB''s said they could do a custom head on the Ritani and would guarantee the quality BUT I''m still nervous about the quality! They could do the diamonds around the basket and on the prongs adding $800 approx. to the cost of the ring. My FF thinks it would be easier for me to do it there so I could see it along the process and make changes- he knows how obsessive I can be about tiny details. My other option would be to have the whole thing done custom by ERD or someone but only if the cost wouldn''t go up significantly or the quality go down.
So...
Option 1: Ritani band + RB''s custom head
Option 2: Entirely custom by ERD (or someone else?)
...what do you all think?
As a sidenote...
I looked at a .90 E SI1 Asscher... it faced up at 5.2mm... I could see that it was an Asscher and had that type of sparkle, but the pattern was very difficult to see. I think most people would notice it looked "different" but not know it was an Asscher.
Also looked at a 1.02 H SI2 that faced up at about 5.5mm. An inclusion was very difficult to see but would be hidden by a prong anyway. The H color was fairly noticable to me.
I looked at a ~.75 Cushette that faced up about 5.2mm for size and sparkle comparison. It was really lovely.
Although I prefer an Asscher, with the cost of the custom work I may have to go with a lesser carat weight square or rectangular stone that won''t be mistaken for a round (which still faces up at least as big as the Asscher). So... I''m thinking I may need to go with a Cushette or Cushion or Square H&A around .75 with G color if I want this custom work. (And I will choose a diamond from one of the vendors here) I know most of the women here would rather have the larger stone, but I can always upgrade the diamond later much easier than upgrading the setting. And... maybe get an Asscher pendant if I don''t get one for my ring
Any thoughts?
