I know that chemicals in the pools are corrosive to metals. How about seawater? How much damage does a setting sustain after a week''s vacation by the sea? I love to swim and usually spend at least couple of hours in the water every day while on vacation.
No damage that I am aware of, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The salt water will dessicate your skin and make your fingers skinny for a while. A LOT of rings, including my own first wedding ring, are lost while swimming in the ocean!
eww yea, doesn''t sound worth the risk to me. If you really love that feeling of having your band on, like I do my new Engagement watch and just cant stand to take it off (as I can''t stand to take off my watch), I would suggest a simple plain band for such excursion, have your hubby present it to you in a romantic situation and both agree to it as a symbol of your marriage of love wherein there might be high risk to your usual symbol but thats just how I plan to do it.
As hard as it is to say this, I wouldn''t even bring it with you on vacation. So you don''t wear it to the beach, then what? What if a not so honest chambermaid slips off with it or someone breaks into the safe in your room (which is common in some destinations). I think it''s too risky all-around. Maybe you should find a less costly (money and emotion-wise) ring to wear as your E/wedding ring while you''re away?
