Thanks April. I have heard that too. I''ll have to ask around.

Tulip, no white spots in her mouth...

What positions do you use for burping? If you do the over the shoulder, you want the baby''s tummy to actually be on your shoulder, with her draped over (be sure to have a good burp cloth!) There''s also the baby sitting on your lap position with the burp cloth tucked under her chin. Rub the baby''s mid back or pat the back. Alternate the positions if the burp is being stubborn.

Everything will fall into place shortly for you, I''m sure of it. Just make sure baby has a wide open mouth at latch on, and that she is supported well with pillows or boppy so that there is no pull on the nipple.
I must say, this is a new one! I always just held them with the chin above my shoulder, or sideways in my lap. I would just caution, if you do try it this way, make sure you''ve got a good hold on her as she gets older, as she''ll possibly kick her feet against you in an upward motion, and could go right on over.

Also, sometimes it helps when patting their back, to start low and keep patting up. Kinda helps work things up and out.

Tacori-

With my first, she had severe vomiting and reflux. I was told to eliminate all dairy products (DD was breastfed only) from my diet and within 2 weeks.

Same thing with DS#1 but he also had hives and eczema. We had him allergy tested and was positive for eggs! I had to remove all eggs from my diet and everything cleared up.

Same thing happened with DS#2 but this time around we knew to get to the allergist to see what was the cause. He had a dairy, wheat, soy, egg and peanut allergies! I had to remove allllll of those from my diet and again, reflux, hives and eczema went away.

DD (now 11 years old) outgrew her milk allergy by 12 months, DS#1 (now 4 years old) still has started to outgrow his egg allergy. DS#2 (now 2 years old) has outgrown his dairy, wheat, soy allergies but still has egg and peanuts.

Food sensitivities can reek havoc on little tummies! Try an elimination diet and see if it helps. This website: www.kellymom.com is a great breastfeeding site!

I hope your adorable DD feels better soon!

Ha ha! I don''t mean hanging down the back! I mean the pressure of the shoulder at the baby''s tummy. Also, as they get older, this position obviously wouldn''t work!

Thanks for helping me clarify!

Good! - but also look for a tongue that looks like it has a coating of milk - just for future reference - that could be thrush.

Do you have a breast pump that you can use to give yourself a break for healing? A pump is easier on the nipples, you can continue giving the baby breastmilk that way, and keep your milk supply up until you are healed enough to go back to nursing.

I just noticed that you mentioned having a crack, then white spots, then a white pimple? Sounds like you may have a milk bleb or infection from the crack. All 3 will cause pain during nursing. Do not break the milk bleb yourself. Tacori, you need to see a doctor and he/she might prescribe an antiboitic.

thanks feb & tulip!

Chrono, it is a blister (I think) not white pimple. It is pinkish/purple. I go to the doctor on the 20th for my 6 week check-up. He''ll check me then right?

I don''t think the doctor will check for that. The 6 week checkup is usually to check the uterus, stitches and such. You can bring it up though.
