There is a poster who is spouting the worst Trump propaganda imaginable.

Should I put them on ignore to preserve my sanity, or go into battle with him/her?

Another tempting option is just posting GIFs of people vomiting.

Neither. I would just observe. Battling someone who is ignorant and not interested in learning is a losing battle imo. Save your energy for posters who deserve it.

I did no such thing.... I don't see any difference when the liberals here post hundreds of links from the NYT and CNN.

DF I don't need to put you on ignore.
This other person is serious.

For me, it depends on whether the person annoys me enough that I'm afraid I might say something that would contribute to getting the politics shut down.

Putting people on ignore is giving up on free entertainment. It is clear that the most lucid and well-researched posts/data won't convince the close-minded.....neither will the musings of the misinformed.

I think this is the most valid point
this is what happened on my Bruce Springsteen forum :(2

Odd for that kind of forum, lol. But I used to be on a loaches forum, and we had an off topic section. Boy did things get wild in there! And we had no moderators. It was fun.

Trump propaganda on PS, really? that would be against the rules...

Well, either you dialogue or you don't. We are ridiculously polarized and it won't get better until we communicate like adults.

That's not for everyone. If talking with people who hold other political beliefs effects your blood pressure, why not ignore them?

It could be alot of fun and i learnt a lot about current events in America
Of course i always took the American side when the Brits or Euros picked a fight :mrgreen2:
But Its not always alot of fun being a right wing Springsteen fan :mrgreen2:
But im pretty sure neither Bruce, his managment or accountant mind that we are fans ;)2
And he does himself talk politics

They set up the sub forum after 9-11
so it survived President Bush and President Obama but not the orange

Actually as a last resort they tried having the political forum unmoderated for a while but the liberals couldn't handle a very small handful of righties :-o

Imange DF singing along to The Rising ! :appl:

I must say i enjoy the right wing humour that some people take so much offence to

But at the end of the day i think one must examine one's own reasons for being part of an online community and im here for company and friendship not to fall out with people over politics

That's a good way to look at it. And goodness knows we may not survive the orange in this forum either, lol. On the fish forum, the righties couldn't deal with us libs who far outnumbered them.

The far left doesn't bother me. Even though they are wrong...

A great man I know once said 'People vary', and that we should accept that... ;)

They must have been spineless righties ;)2

But even the fish peeps can't avoid politics

I think the way every thing has become so polarised is sad

My grandma used to say becareful who you talk politics, religion and sport to

as a society we seem to have become less tolerant of each other

After we brought our house i boarded with a workmate through the week for over a year as we moved to a different town
I had to personally bite my tounge everynight durring the tv news

but i think having it (the left viewpoint) rammed down my throat made me shift further right and i think that has happened to quite a few righties

but at the end of the day we have elections every 3 years here and sometimes your in and sometimes you are the opposition party
Its all down to the swing voters

I'm conservative with an open heart for minorities. I work with homeless programs in our community. We (our household) owns guns. I'm just putting this out there so anyone may block me as necessary. :) edit : those things don't belong together, but they've come to be seen a shorthand for certain political views, or even gauges to humanity. People are complicated.

Maybe we should wear badges.

I would rather talk about things. Honestly and respectfully with people with opposing views. We have all been indoctrinated by our communities. The way forward is to work it out. Divorce is really not possible.

We are very polarized, no doubt. But for me, it's really more about a person's posting style than their politics. Whether they're rude or not, etc. I could have lived with Kasich (sp) or Romney as president, though I wouldn't have loved it. But Trump....no. Have a good evening - I'm off to watch some trash tv.

Just my opinion... Just try to hold on a little longer, is my advice on that. Most people HAVE caught on by now and the election is just around the corner. So there's a good chance things will soon turn around and then that particular tension will go away, too. :)

But in general, I think of a forum as the online version of a bar or big open party or other real life place where anyone who wants to can hang out and mingle. Just as in real life, that includes the occasional sketchy character who you wouldn't want to interact with, for various reasons.

It is the general public, not the same as guests in your home, so you are not in any way obligated to interact with someone you find offensive. So, I think blocking them is a good idea. It's the online equivalent of just avoiding that one problem person's end of the bar lol.

:shhh:... better wear a bulletproof vest...

Some of you have amazingly low tolerance and self restraint for views that do not mirror your own. If that is you then maybe you should ignore. Considering 99% of the political posts here express liberal ideals (some to the tin-foil hat level) I would think that the 1% wouldn’t be that hard to handle.

Here is what I believe: that every liberal here, from the very bottom of their heart wants to do the right thing. I also want to do the right thing. There are many places we agree.

And Trump, yeah, I don't like the guy either.

At least a dozen PSers have me on ignore.... ;(

I like reading your pro-Trump posts.
I find them as harmless and humorous as one-liners.

DF, I think your posts are like mine ... gut level, posted in haste, unfiltered, and not to be taken too seriously. :))

Of course we should be like PS's proper posters, but we makes for a bit of levity and entertainment ... and nobody could call us stuffy.

I have been watching American elections since President Carter and Ronnie Reagan - my parents could not understand my fascination with it

I actually wanted Hilary to win because i thought she would be a steady hand as leader of the free world and i still think that
but watching those tv debates - i knew in my heart if i were an American voter i would have not voted for her

Presidents or PM's need not be warm and fuzzy - our last 3 MPs have been like the boy/girl next door
But I certainly want a polite (but firn) leader that for the sake of diplomacy can make us freinds in the world
I havn't forgotten how rude Mr Trump was to Germany's Mrs Merkel and how disrespectful he was to John McCain and his family, he was also rude to Mrs May and im pretty sure to the Aussie Malcolm Turnbul - all right wingers - it made no sence why he was nice to Jisinta Ardern - she is more socialist than Bernie Sanders

Where on earth was i going with this ...?? :mrgreen2:

@kenny , Please use the ignore button. It sounds like this poster is really pushing your buttons.

@Dancing Fire , It’s probably closer to 20.
