Ok. I have narrowed it down to 2 stones. I am trying to decide on whether to get least expensive of the two stones and upgrade the setting or get the higher of the two stones and get "basic" setting.

First stone:
- WF Expert Selection
- .728 I VS1
- Scored 1.2 on the cut tool: ex,ex,ex,vg

Second stone:
- WF ACA
- .708 I VS2
- Scored 1.5 on the cut tool: ex,ex,ex,vg

The 1st stone is approx $300 less then the second stone. I was thinking of getting that stone w/ the petite cathedral open setting. If I were to get the more expensive stone, I would have it set in the tiffany style 4 prong solitaire setting.

I am leaning towards my 1st choice: less expensive diamond w/ a more "flashy" setting.

What does everyone else think?

Also, if you want me to upload the ASET, Ideal scope images, let me know.

From the results from the HCA, it looks like both will be great stones. Personally, I would go for the slightly less expensive stone and put it in a really nice setting. I''m sure that to all but the most trained eye, no one will be able to tell a difference between those two, but they will be able to tell the setting at first glance.

Bigger and less expensive. It's a beautiful stone.

Ditto. The setting is important too! And the size difference is very slight.

Plus - the band on the petite open cathedral is slimmer, which will make the diamond look slightly bigger.

definitely the cheaper stone and a better setting - they are both great stones and the size difference b/n them is negligible (other than price of course) =P

Ditto...bigger, cheaper, and a much more awesome setting.

Hi L2T, if you could post the Idealscope images and the proportions and pics of the ES diamond at least, that would be great please.

ditto, if everything checks out with the ES I''d go for that one!

i think that you should choose the slightly smaller stone and get a setting that has more to it. it seems that you will get the most out of your money this way. the difference in the diamonds are so small for the price difference

the first stone is my choice based on info provided. it sounds gorgeous!

The first one is bigger AND less expensive, and the cut should be GREAT! I''d go with that one.

Ditto getting an IS image first. You can''t say whether the ES is just as good as the ACA without seeing the IS first. Have you asked WF to have Brian compare both stones side by side and ask his honest opinion whether the ACA is worth the extra $300. He will be honest with you and won''t just sell you the more expensive stone. You are not going to tell the difference is size anyway between those two, so I would recommend determing how good a cut the ES is before you bite the bullet.

Can you post the links for both stones so we can check them out some more?

Thanks for the replies everyone. The ACA diamond is no longer on their site. Here are the Ideal scope and ASET images of the ES diamond. What do ya think???

Looks great. Go and reserve it while you think about it, you don''t want to have it snatched away by a lurker

I am exhausted and have had a few cocktails (gf out for the night). But I found the ACA diamond on the site. Here are it's Ideal scope and ASET. Can you diamond folks tell a diff b/w the ES and the ACA??

The pics aren't showing up on my pc for some reason. Please copy/paste link if you need to.

Morning BUMP. :)

NM

ES looks wonderful.

Looks lovely!

Thanks everyone. I put the deposit down today. If I want to try to get a ACA, I was told I can most likely use that deposit towards one if I choose to change my mind.

1st stone with petite cathedral... I love that setting!!
