After much research-- thank you pricescope!- my boyfriend and I have narrowed down our cushion choices to a final contender. It was a pretty challenging search, since I was dead set on a 2 carat cushion brilliant for 13-14K. I was disappointed in what we saw out there and almost gave up when we found one that looked great. It was 1.75 carats, but it had a nice size for the weight (it was actually larger than a lot of 2 carat cushions that we saw) and the specs were just perfect! We saw it in person this week and I completely fell in love. We have it on hold, but before we put down a deposit, I wanted to get some feedback:
Color Grade : F
Clarity Grade : VS2
Measurement : 7.91x6.82x4.41
Depth : 64.7%
Table : 54%

Girdle : STK-

Culet : Medium

Polish : Excellent

Symmetry : Excellent

Certification : GIA

Fluorescence : FB

it is has an 8 point pavillion, with the skinny peaks that you see on round brilliants.

I attached a pic. it''s the one on the left. the one on the right is a 2 carat H SI1 that I was also considering (they are about the same price)--hope i made the right choice!

Below is another pic. the diamond looks pretty dark because it''s reflecting the black Cartier lettering behind it, but check out the cutlet!

it''s also extremely dirty--it has my fingerprints all over it!

What do you think of the cut its light reflecting performance? I looked at it under an idealscope, and I also looked at rouunds, and it was NOWHERE near as bright red and crisp as the round. The reds were less vibrant, and there were some white areas as well- so I''m worried about the light leakage...

To my eyes it looks wonderful!!!!

Unfortunately a cushion won''t be as brilliant as a round, but at least on paper there is nothing to worry about with that cushion! So if you love it, get it and enjoy it! It''s hard to tell much about the pattern unfortunately since the photos aren''t very close up. But nothing worries me right off the bat, especially if you love it in person!

I fell in love with it, but honestly, when you see so many duds and finally find one thats in your price range and has decent stats you sometimes get overexcited! Is it too shallow?

i was surprised by how close in size it was to the 2 carat stone.

I think it comes down to trusting your eyes ultimately, especially with fancy shapes, if you love it then that is the most important thing.

No no, it''s not too shallow at all. In fact the specs fall very close to mine in terms of the depth and table and many people (myself included!) think that it seems to be a sweet spot for modern cushions.

BUT many cushions are cut deep deep deep, which is not necessarily a good thing, but makes it hard to compare sometimes when you look at a ton of stones that are much deeper and thus look smaller.

OK. I feel much better about this.

NOW... on to the setting!
