This is a pair of cufflinks I had made for my husband with some cabs from Barry. I know the cost / value ratio is way off but I think they made up so beautifully and the amethysts are so lovely that it was worth the expense. And, I get to wear them too (when my husband's not around to see).
Hey, amethysts used to be considered more valuable than diamonds (though I may just have a soft spot for them because they're my birthstone). Those are beautiful, and I love the design! Your husband will feel like the best-dressed man in the room whenever he wears them.
Or because you read Anne of Green Gables too much as a kid.
"I think amethysts are just sweet. They are what I used to think diamonds were like. Long ago, before I had ever seen a diamond, I read about them and I tried to imagine what they would be like. I thought they would be lovely glimmering purple stones. When I saw a real diamond in a lady's ring one day I was so disappointed I cried. Of course, it was very lovely but it wasn't my idea of a diamond. Will you let me hold the brooch for one minute, Marilla? Do you think amethysts can be the souls of good violets?"
The cufflinks are lovely. Definitely the souls of good violets.
Thank you all for your kind comments. I'll get around to taking pictures of the rest of the cufflinks I've had made for him but time, as always, seems to be short!
