This is my purple garnet with a mini opposed bar cut - I couldn't find any pictures online for this particular combination, so thought I'd post here for reference.
My thoughts: I love the cut, it reminds me of the old fashioned cylons from Battle Star Galactica (not the next gen cylons that now resemble humans, obvs. )
Depending on the light there are flashes of the brightest fushia/magenta which I also love, but overall, the stone is too tiny (6x3mm) to have the visual impact that I want so I probably won't set it. (I knew the size before I purchased and this was a trial stone since I'm new to both garnets and the cut). To be fair my only other coloured stone is an 10x8 ish blue zircon, so the garnet was probably never going to be able to compete. But it is a lovely colour and I find the cut intriguing, it just needs to be at least twice the size
I also found the movement of light as it travelled across the stone easier to view on my wrist than with the stone in my finger. So for the time being I will simply enjoy it cellotaped to my wrist while I work.
