Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, and have read quite a few of the posts regarding purchasing diamonds from B&M stores. Specifically since I live in Singapore, the posts advised bringing an idealscope along. Unfortunately, there's no mention on how to purchase one of these locally. Would anyone have information on how to get an idealscope in singapore?

Would a loupe be a necessary companion to the idealscope? I googled around and found that you can get a 10x loupe from local coin/stamp store, so that's not a problem.

Any advice on getting the supplies to venture into B&M stores greatly appreciated.

*EDIT* Apologies. Upon more surfing, I found that I can order an idealscope from
http://www.ideal-scope.com . Would prefer to buy it locally if it's imported, but this would work too :)

We have no agent in Singapore but we ship it very quickly and efficiently from Australia and then we use your credit card to buy drinks at the local hotel for the next week or two

We have a very nice loupe - it maybe more than you need - but it is what I use every day (like the gillette razor story)

Hi and welcome to PS,

You could always borrow mine, I have the expert idealscope and located in the same tiny island as you

Hi All,

I''m new here. Currently looking for an engagement ring to propose, hopefully by Mid Jan. Thus was searching info for diamond and rings and brought me here (thanks to Kevin Ng''s fabulous website).

As I intend to get a few quotes based on my budget and later determine if I can find a better one via online, thus brought me to the question of owning a IdealScope. However, I know that that are two type of idealscope, EXPERT and BEGINNER, is the 4x extra on expert neccessary?

Also, what else beside the IS is needed? Do we need a Ideal Light for providing the light source?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased the expert model, the light (very convienient) the loupe and tweezer set. It is really interesting that in many stores I have been into I had a better loupe and tweezers than they did...

I consider this a minor cost considering that I will be making a $$$$ purchase, and being off by things that I cannot see otherwise could afect the diamond by $$$$ as well.

Anyone in Singapore wants to let go of their Idealscope set?
I''m keen on purchasing one asap. A little short of time.

I''d order from Gary. He''ll have it to you in a flash.

Concerning his other comment. My undersanding is that he usually drinks water, which most places give away.

I have a couple of days stopover in singapore 4-5th aug and I am just around the corner from Garry''s.

PM me if you want me to get one for you and pass it on in singapore. Like Perry said, Garry might be able to get it to u before then anyway ;)

However, I believe he has a taste for expensive red wines
