I have pretty much decided on a GOG stone for engagement ring and am interested in getting it set in a Stuller Solstice ring, which they carry. I''d like some onions from everyone though, should I have the stone sent separately to me first so I can view it in person, then send it back to be set? Should I just get the stone set locally? (my concern with this is finding a local jeweler I can trust). Should I have them set the stone in the ring then send it to me, assuming I''ll love it?

The stone looks great, my only concern with it would be the clarity/inclusions, although I am told it is ''eye clean''. I am somewhat inclined to think I should just have them set it and send me the finished product, to simplify the whole process.

All responses appreciated.

Id just have GOG set it and send it.
Less hassles that way.
Dont like the stone its no problem to have a simular size stone put in it.
With a very high cost custom setting it would be much more of an issue.

strmrdr,

That's a good point... thanks for your response.

All other responses are welcome!

I agree with Storm.

i too argree with storm. it''s just easier to have GOG do it all at once. they are very reputable and I would have no trouble trusting their "eyes."

Thanks for the additional responses everyone!

As long as this is the mounting you like have GOG do the work. They will stand behind the workmanship if anything goes wrong. If the local has a problem you have no recourse to GOG. Plus, they are good people you save taxes if your out of state.

Thanks for the response Bill. I guess the decision has been made then. :)
