I''m so excited, I could burst.

So I bought a cushion from ERD. Thanks to everyone who pointed me in their direction. I''ll post pics and stats when I have the stone. Now I need to focus on the setting. The stone is a cushion brilliant, 1.75 ct, F color.

I''m not sure what setting to get and where. I''ve considered Leon, but I think I''d like to get the stone and setting from the same place (ERD). Sounds like that''s what most recommend. Can anyone tell me how they like Mark''s rings? And what setting do you like best in a square cushion? I know it''s a personal decision, but I''d like your thoughts.

So far I know I''d like it in platinum, at least 2mm. I know I don''t want an halo. I like the look of the Harry Winston solitaire and double claw prongs. Has anyone gotten claws from Mark?

Thanks!

Congrats on your stone! I LOVE double claws on cusions! SO elegant!

I believe Mark has sourced to Leon Mege in the past for some settings (not all).

Yes, but not anymore. I asked.

I think that''s what most would recommend if the setting/style is available at the same vendor. But if one is considering a Leon, nobody''s going to say don''t do it. He''s a style unto himself, nobody can duplicate him.

If you really want a setting from him, go for it.

Yes, Leon's work is fab. I spoke to him on the phone and he seemed helpful and friendly. I have done my research and I know he can be a bit difficult. I also don't know if I want to wait 4-6 weeks, but hey, I can wait.

He quoted me $1600 for the solitaire classic. Does that sound about right?

And has anyone seen claws that Mark's done?

i'd choose the Leon if budget isn't an issue. $1600 for a Leon solitaire is very reasonable in my opinion. Nothing against Mark because I think he does nice work, but Leon is Leon...

HI:

There are numerous pcitures of MM here and on his site--but I can''t say IRL. I''d have a very difficult time choosing. But Leon''s price is certainly reasonable.

cheers--Sharon

I''m leaning toward Leon incase you didn''t notice. LOL. How does Leon get to make the platinum look so amazing? I haven''t seen it anywhere else for sure.

Does anyone know ballpark what it would cost me if I wanted to add two stones to the side for a Leon?

Thanks Sharon but what does IRL mean?

Yep. That''s actually a hair cheaper than I paid back in May.

Here''s a thread with Dani''s ring which is a setting by Mark, and has claw prongs.

Hi Goobear,

I had my setting made by Mark- its an EC solitaire with double claw prongs. I love my setting and think he did a fab job!

I really wouldn''t worry about sourcing your stone to leon. His work is excellent and the best maker of elegant solitaires in my opinion. $1600 sounds very resonable! Adding sidestones will probably increase the price substantially, but it doesn''t hurt to ask.

Love the photos! Keep'em coming

Dani your ring is beautiful and Ellen I love yours too!

So another question - anyone who worked with Leon, did you get your diamond insured during the time it was there. Leon said his policy covers break-ins and such, but not if someone drops the stone or if it is chipped during the process. I know it's rare, but I've also read here that it can happen. So I want to make sure to do the right thing...

goo-

I had my stone insured before it left Mark''s office. After the appraisal you can just send the documents over to the insurance company and get it insured before you even get off the phone with them. Its a pretty quick process.

What kind of sidestones are you thinking of going with? If you go that route, I would probably go with Leon and just let him pick out the stones himself. He always does such a great job!

I don''t know, maybe baguettes? I want it simple and elegant and not too much. No pave, even thought his is to die for. I think my center stone is so beautiful that I don''t want anything else to overpower it, so I might still just opt for a plain solitaire and get an eternity wb, but that might have to wait until an anniversary.

Sounds great! Hmm.....I love the solitaire with e-band look (obviously), so if the simple-elegant look is what you want, then I say stick with the solitaire!!!!

Yes, I think you are right Dani! Great minds think alike
