Hi All,
Well I did it. After much internet/local vendor/soul-searching, I finally purchased my diamond. I spent (way too many) hours debating what I wanted, and finally picked a WF stone that most closely fit my color/clarity/carat range without sacrificing too much on cut (and most importantly, fitting within my budget). The biggest dilemma was picking a ACA or non-ACA stone, which I agonized over a few restless night. I know that the PS community values cut above all else, but I had to balance the other characteristics as well (they are important to my gf). In the end I could have spent a few more $$ for an ACA, but I am adamant about sticking within budget (especially since I''ll be spending quite a bit for a Mark Morrell custom setting).
Here is the stone, please tell me what you think. I''ll also attach the ASET and IS images.
1.255 ct G SI1, "eye clean"
Report: AGS
. Shape: Round Ideal Cut
. Carat: 1.255
. Depth %: 61.3
. Table %: 57.4
. Crown Angle: 34.7
. Crown %: 14.7
. Star : 52
. Pavilion Angle: 40.7
. Pavilion %: 42.8
. Lower Girdle %: 77
. Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick Faceted
. Measurements: 6.90-6.95X4.24
. Polish: Excellent
. Symmetry: Excellent
. Culet: Pointed
. Fluorescence: Negligible
HCA 1.2 Ex-Ex-Ex-VG
As you can see, it''s got a great HCA setting, but it lacks "ACA" grade.
Next step is viewing the stone with the appraiser, and barring any surprises (which I do not anticipate), it''s off to Mark Morrell for a beautiful custom setting.
