PSers - jewelry memorial for friend''s husband?

This past week, I had some terrible news about a dear friend. He passed away unexpectedly at a very young age (34). He and his wife had only been married for a year. His wife had mentioned that she wanted to press his tungsten wedding band into something, or mount it on a chain or something.

Do any of you have any ideas on how she could work his ring into a piece of jewelry that she could wear? Or into something that might be a lovely keepsake? I''m at a loss, other than buying a necklace and hanging it from it.

I''d think of pressing it into a circle or elipse type of necklace. Then she can attach a chain to each end of it, or even imbed her ering diamond into it, and wear it as a pendant.

My sympathies go out to her...

When my grandfather passed away my mom and aunts had his ring and my grandmother's wedding band made into this beautiful filigree pendant. they had a small diamond (.20 or so) set into the center. ETA: my grandmother wore it until she passed and then it went to one of the aunts. It's become an heirloom piece in our family.

Those are great ideas, ladies. I''m just not creative with this type of thing, and I''m not sure how metals like tungsten can be reworked.

Yea as to the reworkability of the tungsten, I have NO idea!! TBH, I''m not a fan of tungsten and I don''t think I''d wear something like that, even with the sentimental attachment. I wonder if it''s something that can be plated?

i think tungsten is hard to rework (i may be wrong)

what about wearing it on a chain, but with another circular pendant alongside it, maybe with diamonds?

Yeah, I'm not sure if she has many options with tungsten. I was talking to Renee from WF about it this afternoon, and I haven't heard back. I think because it's tungsten, most of her options are probably just adding it to a chain.

And thank you for the condolences. I'm just glad I can be a part of her support system.

I would cut the shank of her wedding band, open it up, place the tugsten band inside then sauder it back together. I would then loop a beautiful chain around each ring and wear it as a necklace. It will create the "infinity" sign - always and forever.
