This question seems to pop up periodically, so I thought I''d just post my recent experience as an FYI.

I have a 3mm Lucida band that I bought from signed pieces about 2 years ago. I needed it sized up by 1.25 to wear, so I emailed three of my area Tiffany stores for price quotes on the resizing.

I got two quotes for $115 and one for $120.

I took it in to the Century City Tiffany store last weekend and they told me it would be free of charge because they "don''t charge for repairs."

So, I''m not sure where the discrepancy is or if the location I went to is special in some way, but they did do the resizing free of charge.

I didn't know you bought your 3 mm Lucida band from Signed Pieces. It's nice that you were able to find one there. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I don't understand why the stores had different policies but congrats on getting it resized.

I had the same experience with polishing a silver necklace. One Tiffany, the one on Bond Street maybe, wanted £20 (on a £150 necklace!) to polish it. Another Tiffany in London, I think the one in Harrods, did it for free.

Interesting.

That is interesting since they charged me for resizing a bracelet (taking some links out). Maybe b/c they had to send it to NYC?

Yeah, they charged me to lengthen a silver chain, too - at the same Tiff store that I had my ring resized, but over 5 years ago.

What''s also interesting is that I didn''t think to mention that my ring was secondhand to any Tiffany employee that I spoke to, so that didn''t have any impact on the quotes.

It really seems like they would want to have a company-wide policy on this

odd.

I guess I could see charging to add silver but to remove it?

I got to keep the links at least.
