I believe they are speculating that the peas/legumes is somehow inhibiting the absorption of taurine. Cardiologists are also seeing this in cats, though it is less reported. I switched my cats from FROMM to Science Diet.

Yikess.... my cat is a breed prone to cardiomyopathy and he has food allergies so is on a special exotic protein food and the first ingredient is peas. It is by Royal Canin though so maybe it is ok? My kitten needs to be switched from kitten food to adult food... he is currently on Blue Buffalo but I guess I might switch him to Royal Canin too. Neither has the gene that is linked to cardiomyopathy in ragdolls but who knows if they might be more susceptible anyway.
