Let me start off by saying that I have been a PS lurker for several months now. It''s a wonderful place and I keep on coming back to boost my diamond IQ and hear about all of the wonderful success stories. My problem is that I think I know too much now and it''s making me second guess every stone that I come across. Perhaps you all can help me find exactly what I need.

I already know which setting I will be getting. The budget for the stone is around $6,000. I am curious to see which stones out there you guys/gals think is the best for that price. I will post a few that I have come across as well.

Ideally I want something of the highest cut quality. That is definitely the most important thing to me (thanks to this forum!). I would also like it to be above .80 carats. Anything else after that is up for grabs.

I have searched WF and their database, but nothing they currently have seems to catch my eye. I don''t know if they are just low on the good stuff or I am being too picky!

Please help! I would like to find something perfect within the next few weeks!

IAS, I see from the cut quality search for rounds that we have both a 1.02 H, SI1 in your price range and a 1.02 G, SI1 for about $200 more. There are several other stones in that search result, too, so I'm wondering if perhaps what you're looking for is a bit more specific?

Are you looking for a different shape than round? What color/clarity ranges?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I''m so sorry. I knew I would leave out some other important information! I am looking for only round brilliant stones. I am sure I am leaving other info out as well.

As far as that stone and the goes, I think what made me not interested was that I think I can get something with less color and/or better quality if i go a smidge less in weight (which I don''t mind).

That is just my opinion though. Perhaps if enough people can convince me otherwise, then I might warm up to something along those lines.

I feel like good old gold always has a nice handful of diamonds that are well rounded, and just under 1 ct.

Here are a couple

.9 G VS2

.91 H VS2 I am one who is kind of picky about color and clarity, and I would be very confortable with an H diamond. I have seen quite a few and they are great. All these ideal cut diamond will look great face up, if you go down in color, you will most likely see it in the profile of the diamond. As for clarity, the important thing is not the grade, but weather or not if it is eyeclean. And you need to figure out how eyeclean you want it. Do you want it eyeclean when looking down in it, or from all angles? Make sure your definition of eyeclean and the vendor''s definition of eyeclean match.

The tutorial on GOG about color and clarity are very good, it would be worth going through to figure out what you want.

The first one gets my vote! There''s not one thing I don''t like about it. An IS pic would be nice just to double check, but I seriously doubt there''s a problem. (assuming it''s eyeclean)

I would definitely want an IS on the second due to the C/P combo. Could be nice if well cut.

Seems as if my trigger finger isn''t quick enough. Those first two I posted have already sold. I have 3 more I will be comparing soon.

I''m a bit weary to post links / too much info now because someone can come along and erase all of my hard work and buy my stone. :)

Thanks for all of the suggestions thus far. I am definitely interested in a few of them.

Lurkers do snag things and WF also just sells things! So if you see something you love, reserve it first before posting.

I know they are all different prices, but I still want to know everyones opinion. I have ASET and IS images for all stones as welll. What do you guys think?

I''d probably go for the 1 ct. I SI1 if they can say that it is eyeclean from the top and sides. If not, I''d love the G VS1 at .9. If you go with the I color stone, you could always upgrade color later if you wanted to. But I''d go for the larger one now because prices go up over time.

I completely forgot to mention that the 1ct stone is ACA as well.

If you can swing it, I'd go for the 1 ct. (assuming it's eyeclean)

OK I have an update:

Of the three stones I am choosing between on this post, the .90 G VS1 seems to be the one WF is recommending - and it''s a virtual stone. The other two were stones I thought were good to compare against - at least from what they had available.

I know WF has a great reputation around here, but should they be my only choice? One other reason why I really have not considered any of the other vendor''s is the kit they ship with any ACA stone for inspection. But since the .90 is not ACA anyways, I am open to other vendor''s and suggestions.

I''m going to post the images they gave me and the comparision photos as well.

Please help! I don''t know what to do now and time is running out!

Not if they don't have exactly what you want. There are many reputable vendors on here to search through.

As for the .90, if WF recommends it, I would imagine it's nice, and it looks nice! But again, if you're wanting something else, have a look around.
