Snlee: I have no experience with that cup--which ones have you tried so far? If he hasn''t adjusted to sippies yet I would start with the ones with handles. The Nuby ones are good transitional ones since the top is somewhat similar to the bottle nipples. I''ve tried that one, plus straw cups and for some reason Aventa worked best (maybe b/c it was the hardest to bite through). Now we''re onto the the no frills playtex sippy (no handles). Manged to cut out one bottle feeding with that cup so far.
Thanks janine. I haven''t tried any sippy cups other than born free, which he doesn''t like. Since I know he can drink from a cup, I rather just skip the sippy cups. One less transition later. That''s great that you dropped a bottle feeding!

snlee: ah, sorry, didn''t realize it was actually a step past sippy! Looks like a great concept, I say give it a try! (and let us know). Well dropped one bottle but it''s so much slower with the sippy. Takes like an hour and she keeps abandoning the cup somewhere and I go and find it to remind her to keep drinking!

Burk, hope the other earring pop up soon.

puffy, glad to hear the trip was a success. Did u get any bling while in Vegas?

snlee, little B only have one sippy cup by Thermos Foogo. But he hardly use it, DH had train little B to drink milk out of regular cup we use with a straw.

Happy Birthday Co!!

TGal--
We are still giving J whole milk....but will make the switch over once that carton is empty just because we''ve been throwing out her milk before she can finish it.
She doesn''t drink much milk when we are home...instead she''s been drinking her pediasure and my soymilk.

Burk--
Oh no...sorry about the earrings.
Hope it pops up eventually.

Puffy--
Welcome back.
Hope you have tons of pictures to show us ^.^

Snlee--
I didn''t use that particular cup, but used an equivalent Playtex tumbler one.
I removed the plug for J so it was more like a controlled flow instead of a no-spill cup.

Jas12--

happy 2nd to Co!

Thanks for all of the good birthday wishes!! And happy birthdays to J, Jake and Co as well!

Evidently G kept barking at our dogs today. I''ve never seen him do that before, and I''m a little sad that I missed it.

DD- thanks for all of the food tips. We''ve been feeding him exactly what we eat (minus nuts, etc), just cut up into smaller pieces, and so he at least sees us eating it and enjoying it. I think we need to work more on sneaking in fruits and veggies. Oh - my grandmother used to mash up peas and try to sneak them into jello (wha?) and my father still has not forgiven her, 50 years later. I will try to find a middle ground here.
3.gif

Thanks ladies! I really love those earrings so I am hoping it turns up too.

And, since I''m all about being Debbie Downer these days my bad news for today is Kade has thrush!!
39.gif
Poor miserable baby and as if I haven''t had enough BFing issues-ouch ouch ouch. Started treatment tonight so hopefully we''ll both be better soon.

Puffy~Welcome back! Glad you guys had a good time!

Happy birthday Co!

Burk
I hope that once it is treated it will ease the pain you have. Apparently thrush can infect the nipples too and cause a lot of pain when nursing!

I'm looking into cups for D. I want to find one with vehicles on it to make the transition a little easier. I found this - Tommee Tippee Explora Truly Spill Proof Drinking Cup. Anyone have any experience with these cups? It has really great reviews but I was wondering if any PS mommies have tried them. I like that it's a cup but it's supposed to be spill proof so you can travel with it. I want a cup that we can pack milk to bring to the grandparents house or out. Also great that it's insulated and BPA free. Looks good to me so I think I'll pick it up after work and give it a try. It's time to get rid of the bottles!

We didn't try the Tommee Tippee cup, but we did try the Playtex Coolster. From the look of it, they are similar in concept - a cup with a valve system that prevent spill/leak but no sprout or straw to suck on. The Playtex didn't work for us. It's extremely hard to get the liquid. I tried it after M failed to drink from it, and it took quite a bit of sucking to get a little bit of liquid. So I just put that thing away, and let her drink from a regular cup. I found this youtube video that reviewed the Tommee Tippee cup when I was searching to see the mechanism of the valve system. The video basically said the same thing about the Tommee Tippee that I said about the Playtex, and the girl using the cup in the video is 6 yrs old. When we go out, we just use her straw cup for water and the Thermos Hello Kitty Funtainer Bottle for soymilk.

Tgal
M drinks soymilk, so we''ll probably just stay with that.

puffy
Sounds like a fun trip. How funny that B is already developing a love for Vegas.

Burk
Did the earring resurface?
Hope K gets rid of the thrush soon. You are such a trooper.

lili
I should remove the valve in the cup, so M gets some use out of it. I just put it away after I found out how hard it is to drink from.

Blenheim
Peas in jello, yuck.
14.gif
Try smoothies first. LOL. We are lucky M loves veggies and fruits; she asks for veggies at dinner.

Hello my favorite mommies. We are finally home. I have to say flying with T wasn''t too bad except during take-off and landing b/c wouldn''t ya know it she wanted her seatbelt OFF, her tray table and window shade DOWN.
20.gif
Also she got bored and even the lure of her dvd player wasn''t enough entertainment. I kept giving her cookies, tried to get her interested in some books but she really wanted to explore the airplane. We were in the very last row on the way home so there was no one behind us for her to flirt with. She did have fun knocking on the bathroom door. Flying direct is blissful and now I feel spoiled. I am pleased to say that apart from that first day her tantrums were at a minimum. My dad wanted me to leave her there for the summer! She really is a charming little girl when SHE wants to be. My parents really enjoyed her and she loves them. She actually calls my dad "my grampa" like the "my" is part of his name. She warmed up to their dog a bit. The dog still made her nervous so she wouldn''t pet her face but she would pet the dog''s body and asked/talked about her all the time.

While I was gone I missed so many birthdays! Happy Birthday Cohen AND Jake!

Burk, hope you find your earring! Sorry about the thrush. You poor thing! My mom was really surprised how tough T is. She was trying to make me feel better by telling me she probably be a REALLY easy teenager. Thanks mom but I doubt it. Good luck with the house hunt.

TGal, I am scared to reply to your other thread on what I let T get away with b/c you might not want to be my friend anymore
2.gif
I switched to 2% milk when T was two. I don''t think T needs milk to bulk her up. Haha.

Janine, I thought the terrible twos started at 18 months. Maybe T is just bad behaviorally advanced.
20.gif

Jas, learning to ignore is an important tool. Good luck.

puffy, glad the trip was a success!

snlee, I am starting the transition out of sippys which frightens me. Not b/c she is not physically capable of drinking out of a cup, she is, but the mess! Oh the mess! She hasn''t had a big spill yet but I know it is only a matter of time.

Bobo, my mom kept complimenting my parenting. I think she was worried I was going to run away in the middle of the night. Haha.

To everyone I missed
35.gif

dreamer~Thanks!! I meant to answer your question about BFing T in the other thread but then it got heated so I''ll answer here
3.gif
: T had latch issues to start so I ended up nursing with a shield until I healed. That went just fine. What didn''t go well was her with my milk. She was extremely intolerant to something in my BM(we couldn''t figure out at the time even with the elimination diet she would be crazy unconsolable within an hour of a BM feeding vs. happy as a clam with a formula feeding). Like I said I tried elimination diet, enzymes, ect and she was just so much happier with formula so I ended up quitting breastfeeding around 6 weeks. So, really no actual issues with feeding itself aside from the initial latch issue. Now, with K his initial latch was great (I knew what it *should* feel like and knew better how to get him latched) but when my milk came in he ended up doing some damage because I have an oversupply and my milk comes fast so he would shallow out his latch like to protect himself from choking and I wasn''t able to get him off fast enough on at least a few occasions. The cracks/blisters led to the vasospasms. Now the vasosospasms have really subsided for the most part but I still have a crack (and he''s 8 weeks). Then, the thrush. Pretty sure the crack caused the thrush and yea it''s painful. Argh....so all that to say I''m so sorry but my second time Bfing really hasn''t been all so great.
40.gif

QT~No earring yet.
7.gif
Thanks for calling me a trooper. That really means a lot because I''ve been through a lot and a few times really considered giving up. I mean, I still have a cracked nipple at 8 weeks for heaven''s sake.
40.gif
How is J doing? When do you go back to work?

Tacori~Welcome back! Sounds like Tessa was a great traveler! I bet it was so great for you to spend time with your parents. I think I''m going to take your mom''s take on hard kid as toddler=easy teenager just to get me through the day some days!
16.gif
Thrush sucks.

So we bought a house yesterday. It''s actually new construction and fairly nice and should be a pretty good investment (builder grade finishes we can upgrade, basement we''ll finish, ect). We move in the end of April so I need to get packing. It''s quite a bit smaller than our current house and WAY smaller than our new house so we''ll be putting a lot of stuff in storage but I am excited that we''ll actually be living somewhere nice, with a backyard, garage, ect. for the next few months. Oh, and it''s in the same neighborhood as the IL''s which makes DH happy.

seriously need to catch up soon but just wanted to say,

burk so sorry about the thrush!! OUCH! good luck packing too. hope the kids are both doing well. hope that earring turns up!

tacori welcome back!! B was a total dream during the flight. but the flight attendants played a major role...they were awesome with him. they made him sit still during take off with the promise that the would take him to explore the plane when the seat belt light was off.

qt how are the kids? hope M and J are both doing well and sleeping lots so you are getting sleep also. B loves the whole gambling scene...BAD i know. he was playing blackjack with one of his uncles earlier. haha. and all he talks about are slot machines!

snlee how are you feeling?

bobo haha, no bling, but did manage to get a new purse. haha. how are you feeling?

lili how is J doing? hoep you guys are all doing well.

hi everyone else....i know i missed a ton of you guys. i gotta get the kids to bed then laundry and cleaning.
take care mommies!!!

Burk--you are a tropper for sure! With the thrush, BFing issues, moving etc. that''s a lot on your plate, but iam glad you found a home!
Cross that off the list
4.gif
. I hope being near the inlaws means lots of help with babysitting while you are in that house!

Welcome back Tacori. Sounds like a successful trip. So cute that Tessa calls your dad "my grandpa"
30.gif

Blen--peas in jello--ick. That''s funny. I am all about sneaking stuff, but doesn''t the jello cancel out the peas-haha

QT--oh you are so lucky to have a kid that asks for veggies!!! I am envious. It''s a battle for me every day.

Co''s b-day was fun. He was up till after 9pm and didn''t even have a meltdown. He got some great toys that i''ll have to post in the Toy Thread.
I got annoyed with all the family asking him over and over "who''s b-day is it? How old are you? Show me 2 with your fingers " etc. etc. They always expect him to perform and he''s so easy going he usually humors them, but some day i think he''ll just deck em in the face and say "back off"
2.gif

We have family/maternity photos coming up this weekend and I don''t think Co is going to cooperate. I was hoping to get the standard older sib posing/kissin/touching mom''s belly shots but like i''ve mentioned before, Co''s totally anti baby. I am nervous about spending the $$ to have someone come to our place, only to get stuck posing alone (i am not cool with posing alone, i am not a confident preggo and don''t like getting my picture taken on a good day
5.gif
. I guess i''ll just have to try and see what happens.

tacori: welcome back--you might be right on 18mo''s tantrums, more on that later. I think Tessa has such a great/big personality-she is charming and social but very feisty as well!! Sounds like things went well on your trip after the first day!

burk: you bought a house at a record pace--you should pop in on the house hunter thread where it''s so opposite!
emwink.gif
I like your style! And smaller is sometimes better, especially if it''s temporary. Less to pack up when you move again. I''m sorry to hear about the thrush, you really really are a trooper.

jas12: sounds like a nice b''day and co was a trooper too! It''s so hard to get them to cooperate with photos at this age..I hope it works out but it maybe a challenging day!

As for C..she was so grumpy this wkend! Please tell me this is a phase or teething! She was sooo whiney all day and would go into this extreme highly dramatic cry for such small things! Like she''d drop something and go into that cry! Most noticeably she gets so upset when she can''t do something herself..she gets mad and cries as if it''s the end of the world and I say "ok let mommy help you" and she says "NOOOO NOOOO" and gets even more upset. It was so exhausting...she is biting at everything so might be teething but if this is here to stay, ohh boy. She is also becoming so picky with food..a lot of "noooo" being said in our house these days.

Janine--could just be a phase or something was bugging her (like the teeth). Co went thru a few days about a month back where he was awful (tried to bite, was miserable and disagreeable) but it went as quickly as it came. So here''s hoping. The "nooos" might be here to stay however. Comes with the toddler territory i guess. I don''t suggest things to Co anymore. He meets them with "NO WAY" (he just added the ''way'' for reinforcement this weekend
20.gif
). Apparently nothing is a good idea unless he comes up with it.

Burk--
36.gif
36.gif
for the purchase.
Fingers crossed that your earring show up.

Puffy--
We both are doing great.

Janine--
LOL....don''t you love it when they are so vocal :D

Jas12--
Co is so good to humor his guests.
J would just give them the stare down.
She''ll only perform when she''s in a good mood.

tacori-so glad you're back and T did such a great job traveling.

puffy-you sound like a pro traveling with 2 kids. I'm still not good at it and I've had multiple kids for years...

burk-yay for finding a house and for having in-laws close by for a while. You'll grow to LOVE that I bet. My parents are 20 minutes away and I wish they were closer.

jas12-glad Co's b-day party went well. Jake had fun at his too. I gave him a tee-ball set and he wouldn't open any other gifts. My girls ended up opening everything else for him. He LOVES his tee-ball set. My hubby said he's already looking forward to sitting in the stands eating hotdogs and drinking beer watching Jake play little league
20.gif
2.gif
Did Co have a favorite new toy?

hope all the rest of you mommies are doing well!!

So we got T''s school pics back today...pretty cute. I was really impressed that they got her to smile (even though one looked kinda fake) and sit still. One has a HORRIBLE, ugly background but she looks adorable. I am just not into fake landscaping. I was feeling good about my little model until I saw the class photo. HYSTERICAL! She looks bored, indifferent and a little disheveled. That''s the girl I know! These pics are proof she needs a haircut. It is getting so stringy. I am going to post them on FB after DH scans them.

Interesting J''s daycare doesn''t do individual pictures.
They have class pictures instead.

MrsS--
Jake is too cute w/ the tee-ball set.
He''s pretty at the swing too!

Lili, it is a preschool so maybe that is why. Of course I have to buy the prints. They chose one close-up (beige background) and a full length with their lame garden backdrop. Plus a class picture where only 2 kids are smiling. Mine wasn''t one of them.

LOL....as long as she''s not digging her nose...it''s good :)
My friend had her 1yr in a daycare (kinder care chain I believe) and they do pictures too.

tacori- jake''s school does the individual and group pics too. I wasn''t going to buy any b/c they are just so overpriced and the background is plain white. I don''t like the fake backgrounds either. But, it turned out so cute that I caved and bought one. I can''t wait to see the one''s of T!

lili-Jake is addicted to that set now. he played with it forever this afternoon. I''m so glad he loves it though. Neither of my girls have played sports. So I''m hoping my boy will show some interest and I think he''s off to a good start.

puffy~Thanks! Thrush seems to be better. Packing is NO fun but I'm just doing it little by little-trying not to stress about it. Are you guys still looking at houses?

Jas12~Thanks! Lots going on for sure but it'll all work out and it's a relief to be moving into a nice house that has room for all of us, a 3 car garage and a nice back yard. Not sure what being close to the IL's means: my nephew is notorious for being naughty and mean to T. We shall see. I'm sure your mat pics will turn out beautiful!! I chickened out an canceled mine.
5.gif
You better post some for us to see!

janine~yep, less than a week to buy a house-pretty sure we're crazy (especially since we technically own 2 houses and a lot right now). We're putting a ton of stuff in storage so the 2nd move should be easier...in theory. Oh, and the tantrums, I would think just a phase. T has done similar.

lili~Thanks! Have I said how much I love your avi?

mrss~Thanks! I wish we lived closer to my parents....we're lucky though to have help so close on both sides.

Tacori~We don't have school pics at T's school, either. Wish they did. Can't wait to see Tessa's pics!

K had 2 mo appt yesterday. He's a very big boy (12 lb 6 oz and 24.5 inches) but the shots were miserable.....as in he screamed and cried and would not eat most of the night. Thank goodness my mom came over and helped out because poor T was so confused. I posted his 2 mo pic in the newborn thread if any of you are interested.

Oh, and his thrush is gone but I'm still having some pain...but better.

mrsS haha...definitely not a pro traveling with the kids!! but it was good practice to go on a shorter trip. it gives me hope for longer trips later in the year. that''s so cute about your DH looking forward to little league.

burk glad things are better. we actually found a house and currently deciding whether or not to put our current home on the market. i don''t really want to, but the property tax for both homes, 2 mortgages...you know what i''m getting at since you guys just bought another house. and the new house is way more than we wanted to spend but it was as close to my dream house as it gets...how could we say no?!

janine the dreaded "no!!!" those are definitely here to stay, at least in B''s case they were. but hopefully everything else is just a phase.

jas12 sounds like the party went well!

Thanks to all who chimed in about the cup. We have been trying the Tommee Tippee cup. I removed the plug since it''s so hard to get liquid out with the plug. He''s been using it a little bit. He drank some freshly squeesed OJ yesterday from it and even drink a few sips of milk with it. He likes the cup since it has a truck, tracker, plane, and helicoper on it. He hasn''t pushed it away like other sippy cups so it''s a start. He still needs to get used to it. Without the plug some liquid leaks so it''s a bit messy right now. I''ll keep at it though.

Burk, sorry to hear K has thrush! Poor little guy! You are definitely a trooper for sticking with BFing through all that. You''re doing a great job! Congrats on the house and good luck with the move!

Tacori, good luck with the transition! Try the Tommee Tippee cup. She might like it. Even without the valve, if it tips over, it spills much slower than a cup so I like it, especially for traveling.

Jas12, good luck with the photo shoot. Try to have fun! Can''t wait to see them.

janine, I think it has to do with their age and having a mind of their own now. Everything D can''t do something he want to do he yells and screams. If we tell him no, he hates it! I''m trying to limit my no''s though because I don''t want him saying no to me all the time.

puffy, I''m doing pretty good, thanks for asking. The m/s is gone and the tiredness is subsiding. I''m 14 weeks today, so officially into the 2nd trimester! Woohoo! I''m excited! Congrats on the house! When do you move? Is it around the same area you are now? That''s awesome you get your dream house!

MrsS--
Did you post any of it?
Memory is a bit foggy these days.

That''s great that Jake likes his sport set.
Jadie is not a sport buff, though she does know her daddy''s football and basketball teams.
In terms of playing w/ balls...the most she''ll do is roll them down the stairs :D

Jas12--
Can''t wait to see your maternity.
I don''t know what you are so shy about...you make a cute preggo!
Don''t back out on us now cuz we want to some good maternity pictures.

Speaking of maternity pictures -- ahem Ms Puffy ???

Burk--
Poor you...but glad to hear that K''s thrush is gone.
Did he have to take that oral suspension?
J hated that and we only gave her a couple of dose and that''s what it.
Found that brushing her tongue nightly does the trick (maybe she didn''t have thrush?)

Wow....Kade is a big boy!
Saw his 2 month pictures and he looks much older than that ^.^

Good luck w/ your move.
How long is it before your house is done?

Thanks....I think you did comment on my avi.
But it''s nice to hear again :D

puffy--
congrats on the house of your dreams.
When are you guys moving in?

snlee--
That''s great m/s and tiredness is a thing of the past.
About the cup....have you tried the munchkin straw cup (if you are concern about spills).
I tried all different straw cups for J to get her to drink her milk and the one that worked was the munchkin.
I think what did the trick was the fact that it has a character on it (Dora) that she recognized and loved.
I think they may have trucks or cars for those straw cups.

**Paging Mrs Mitchell**

Hi
35.gif

Sophia has an appt with an urologist tomorrow. Did Amelia have to see one? If so, what do they do? I''m assuming she''ll get another cath, maybe an u/s?

Thanks!

lili, I haven''t tried those straw cups. I can''t get D to drink from a straw yet. He won''t suck on it! I''ve tried using the take and toss straw cups.

snlee congrats on the second trimester!!! glad you're feeling better. the house is around the same area, about 10 minutes away. but the area is really quiet, a lot more so than it is here, but it's really nice too.

lili thanks!! we can actually move in at any time but it's just not the right time for us now with two kids. we're slowly getting things together. i was telling DH that it'll be 2011 before we move. haha. and yes maternity pics...just not sure i want to post myself on here. but here's a pic of noah to make it to you.

B should be waking up then off to get frozen yogurt with him.

ETA: he's about 3.5 months here...this was in vegas
