*****Please PS Fairy send some of your dusty goodness my way next week*****

Several weeks ago I posted a dust request for a job interview that I had. Well, that interview went really well, and I then had a second interview with the company's COO the following week. I guess that went well, because the hiring manager wants to meet with me next week. The HM doesn't work in the same city as me, so the previous interviews have been over the phone. I have no idea what this next meeting is going to entail, but I'm nervous. FI and friends say the deal is in the bag, but I'm hesitant to get my hopes up.

Oh, and should I get the job offer, how should I go about negotiating salary? This is the first position I've encountered where the chance for negotiation is a possibility.

So keep your fingers crossed!

I am dumping hoardes of dust onto you Hudson! Good luck!

In terms of negotiating, have you already given them a range that you are looking for? I know many companies ask that early on in the interviewing process.

Also, doing a search online might help- lots of websites like salary.com will ask you the type of job you are looking at as well as the city you live in and calculate the range of what the job might pay. That could be a good starting point for you when trying to figure out what is reasonable, and more importantly, what you could stand to make

Good luck!!!

Just about every job I''ve applied/interviewed for has asked me for salary requirements. But this one didn''t. I''ve always been told not to bring it up until they do, I just want to be prepared. It''s an established company in my indiutry, so I''m confident that they''ll be competitive, and I know what reps at my company make, so I can go off of that as well. I also calculated what my total earnings are this year (bonus and average raise) so I at least know what I''d make at Pearson should I decide to stay. That''s pretty close to the range for the reps, so I think it''s a good minimum number to go in with. 10% over that would be ideal.

thanks for the well wishes everyone.

So the in-person meeting was last night, and I think it went really well. He said that he had a few more interviews, but I was definitely a strong candidate. We discussed salary briefly and he mentioned that he was going to put together a proposal with the salary/bonus structure for the position as well as send the non-compete/disclosure information for me to review sometime next week. They hope to make their final decision with a month or so. So I think I have a really good chance of landing the position. YAY!!

thats great news!! congratulations!!
