Hi Guys,

I have 30 days left till my proposal and need everyone help to determine what's the best value for a round ideal loose diamond.
Budget around $16,000 for the diamond excluding the setting. Below was what i found on whiteflash around that price.
Looking for a 1.5 Carat +> size, excellent cut as i read through the forum mentioning cut is King, Color i'm not sure at all, would H or I or better grade make any difference in term of noticing the color as we're trying to achieve eye on a glance not noticing a color other than white. Taking Recommendation on which one you think is better or if another diamond or vendor has a better deal, doesn't hurt to save more $$$ for the wedding coming up :wall:
Thank you all for your help! Happy Thanksgiving!

Warmest regards,
Zack

Hi Zack - happy Thanksgiving
I can't comment on the stones you're looking at specifically (forum rules for those of us in the trade) - but I can comment on your question regarding the colour.
If you are setting in a yellow gold ring, H/I colour...no worries.
If the ring setting will be white gold or platinum, then obviously the better the colour the less chance of seeing it - but you can be fairly confident that if they are well cut stones, once set, that there won't be any noticeable colour in an H colour diamond.
If it is a low I colour, you might see a tiny bit, but I wouldn't stress over this too much as it's not likely to distract from the finished ring.
Hope this helps

Great, thank you! That does helps alot, i'll lightly ask the misses if she like gold or White for the setting and go from there regarding H or I . Gotcha, didn't know about that forum rule. Does VS1 and VS2 make any big difference in term of clarity selection? i'll revise, asking for help. Budget around $16,000 for the diamond excluding the setting. Looking for Excellent Ideal cut, VVS1 - VS2, F-I, 1.5 Carat +> bigger is better from what i heard, any recommendation of loose stone diamond would be appreciated in term of overall value.
Thank you for your help.

Warmest regards,
Zack

As long as WF designates them as eye-clean you should be good. There are a few rare cases where VS2's aren't eye clean, and VS1's pretty much always are eye clean.

All the stones you've selected are ACA's, which means they are the cream of the crop in terms of cut. You really can't go wrong. Is there any way to hint to her about her preference for color vs size? Yes the 1.8 is larger than the 1.6, but the difference is very small, and you'd only notice it if they were side by side. They are all a nice respectable carat weight and diameter with top tier optics, so now just figuring out how important color is to her is the next step IMO.

Hi Zak - I agree with ecf8503 - speaking generally (so my post doesn't breach any rules  ) - if your'e looking at a VS2 with a good certificate you shouldn't have to worry too much - especially if you are looking at purchasing from a reputable organisation, and they say that a VS2 stone is eye clean, you should be fine.
And regarding your budget, you should be able to get a pretty schmick H /VS2+ / EX cut / 1.50ct+ stone for 16k
good luck with your search
