proposal ideas on catalina island

Hi all,

I''m planning on proposing to my gf at catalina island in so. california. I''ve actually never been there and It''s already been setup w/ my gf just as a mini "vacation" and nothing more. so she has no idea what''s coming. Anyone who''s been to catalina have any proposal ideas or suggestions they''d like to share? thanks.

I love Catalina, although it''s been 10 years since I''ve been there. I think a nice proposal on the beach is a great idea. Have a nice dinner before and then just go for a stroll and pop the question while you''re out wandering.

It''s so pretty - when I stayed there, we woke up one morning and walked around the island to a little bench that''s (as you face the water) pretty far to the right. Anyway, we went over there and watched the sunrise and it was amazingly gorgeous. Also, many of the hotels have rooftop decks and you could always arrange with the hotel to give you access for sunrise or sunset (they''re usually locked overnight) and propose then? Best wishes!

I live in S. CA & have been to Catalina Island a few times.

When you mentioned a proposal there, I immediately think of this:
You know you can buy ticket and take a little "submarine" to see the underwater lives?
I went on it once, & I think it might be a perfect place to propose.

Because it''s underwater, the lighting would be perfect since it''s a little dark but kind of "shiny" cuz of the sunlight reflection.
You really can see lots and lots of pretty fishes down there.
Or you can even go to the "deck" of the submarine to propose.

Just thought that it''d be such beautiful and economic way to propose in the middle of the sea~

I used to spend lots of time on Catalina. It is really a boaters'' paradise with much of the Island only accessible by boat. You might be able to rent a small boat and go out along the coast exploring a little. Otherwise there ae nice walks out each direction of the main downtown towards either pebbly beach which is out past the ferry boat terminal or Descanso beach which is the other direction, past the casino. You could rent bikes and go exploring -- maybe even a tandem bike

. The main part of town is cute but busy and touristy. I would try to get out of the crowds a little. Maybe just a bench by the casino, which is just gorgeous. it would make a great picture to remember the moment with.
