hey guys,

I am getting married in April and just found the dress of my dreams.... it''s the Pronovias Elie by Elie Saab Collection from 2008 - "Erato" is the name of the dress.
I just called NYC and they told me it runs $8900.00! Obviously there is no way I can accommodate that price into my budget, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any way possible to run into a cheaper price than that? Whether it be a sample gown or whatever!

Let me know where to look

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

-Thanks,

I''m not sure I can help you a whole lot but I would think twice about including your whole name in your signature.

My best suggestion is to find out who carries that dress in your area and call around asking if they have a sample of that dress. Maybe one of them would be willing to let it go or will plan on clearing on their sample selection to make room for the 2009 stuff.

I''m not engaged yet so I don''t have a whole lot of experience in this area. Good luck!

Thanks for your help~

No problem. I wish I could be of more help to you.

Have you checked out ebay, craiglist, and preowenweddingdresses.com?

checked them both!

Yeah I went and browsed preownedweddingdresses.com and didn''t come up with anything.

Whats your second choice?

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I also fell in love with an Elie Saab for Pronovias dress and I could not find it for cheaper anywhere. I did a lot of google searching and also looked on every site I could think of: Ebay, Craigslist, et al. Elie Saab dresses are hard to find in general, and since they are so expensive not many people buy them-- thus there are no preowned ones out there. The only thing you can do is search the internet regularly and hope something comes up... I''m sorry I don''t have better advice.

I went through the exact same search and I wanted to tell you about it.

You can always find a talented dressmaker in your area and see how much it would cost for him/her to imitate it or make one similar. It might still be pricey to copy all the fabrics and such exactly, but without the label you can buy a whole lot of dress for 3-4K. Of course it would not be EXACTLY the same, but if you really love the shape, line, or fabric of the dress and not the label this might be an option for you.

I am searching for someone to create my wedding dress from a 1950''s ballgown look, and alot of the places start at 1-2K. Plus you get the couture experience of the dress being made just for you to fit your body perfectly!

Good luck with your search.

Pronovias is having a sample sale this sat 11/22, by appointment only. Per the e-mail I got from them, gowns will be discounted 50% to 75%.
Although they might not have the same style on sale, they might have something similar. If you are in the NYC area, I would check it out!

When is your wedding? Honestly, if you have the patience I don''t think you would have a problem finding the dress of your dream.. I own 2 Manuel Mota dress brand new from Pronovias 2007 collection which as hard to find and pricey as the Elie Saab.. I brought the beginning of 2008.... dress 1 I got it for $1,200 and dress 2 $550 including shipping

... My advice is if you have a dress budget.. Do what I do.. Go to their website.. Find out where they sell their line at.. And call EVERY Store that has it. Neogiate the price.. Tell them exactly how much you willing to pay if No, Go to the next one .. hihiih... I think is just nicer to purchase the dress of your dream at a price that you can afford .. Don''t go into preowned dress right away.. Consider that as your very last option because you can get almost any designer dress brand new at 75% - 90% off if you put your heart to it .. Good luck

I don''t know if this link is of any help to you but the Erato is listed here as $5500.
