Prongs and inscriptions: do I need to ask Leon not to cover?

I met with Patrick Davis (who was awesome btw) today to appraise my loose stone before it goes to Leon Mege. He said to make sure to request that Leon sets my diamond in a way that the inscription is still visible.

Do I even need to ask Leon to do this or is it standard practice? I don't want to be branded a PITA.

You need to ask. And that's not being a pain.

I'd almost have to say why, though? Who cares where the inscription is once the stone is set?

Appraiser might want to see it in order to list it on the appraisal that he saw the inscription once set as well as unset.
